Chapter Twenty-Five || Re-meetings and Catching Up

They were in a living room in the relaxation castle now, it was a large room with a lit fireplace against a wall. Bookcases and shelves were spaced evening with the large windows that allowed nature light to filter in. Unused candlesticks were placed on tables and desks throughout the room with comfortable chairs at each location. In front of the fire was a coffee table with a tea set on it, around the table were couches, chairs, and love seats.

The trio was practically dragged back to the castle while Dream and Techno were scolded angrily, Karl was just looking around while trying to ignore the strange looks Sapnap and Quackity were giving him.

At the gates, Dream's family had hugged him goodbye before going back to their Inn, XD had made Dream promise to visit them after everything was sorted out. They were then led inside the castle and walked to a living room to talk.

Dream was sitting on a love-seat with George by his side as a doctor looked over and rewrapped his broken leg. Techno was grumpily sitting on a couch with Tommy and Wilbur at his sides, the two had forced their wings around the piglin, annoying the prince quite a bit.

Sapnap and Quackity were also sitting on a love seat, but they were watching Karl as he thumbed through the bookcases and shelves excitedly, distraught clouded their faces.

Phil and XD were sitting on separate couches, they were having a debate with their about who was going to start first. They were interrupted by a sharp hiss from Dream as the doctor the finished the cast. The packed up their medical equipment before bowing and leaving the room.

"So.." the King began, "Do you want to explain how you... survived?" He asked slowly, Dream hummed, "Karl planned it, we just stayed in our cell." Dream responded and gestured to the human, George then tipped his head onto Dream's shoulder, the ram kissed his hair in response.

Karl looked over to them upon hearing his name, his injuries glowed in the firelight, causing Sapnap and Quackity to wince again.

"Karl? Can you sit down over here?" XD asked kindly, the human nodded happily before sitting down cross-cross on a chair. "Would you three explain how you got out though? No one reported seeing you three at all." Phil asked, they nodded and looked to Karl.

There was an awkward silence before Karl realized that everyone was looking at him, "Oh- I'm explaining it." Karl realized and laughed to himself before speaking. "I- I, uh, foresaw an opening to escape when Dream and Techno showed up, so I followed what I saw happen." Karl explained.

"I waited until it was dark before setting the kitchen tent on fire, I didn't expect it to, uh, spread so fast- or at all, though." Karl said with a regretful shiver, "I only really saw darkness and fire and I just went from there." Karl said before curling in on himself, "Sorry." He whispered.

"You didn't see anything else? No injuries? No attack? No faked deaths?" XD asked, shocked. Karl shook his head, "It's a bit blurry, but I don't think so? I really only set the fire and made us wear dark clothes so we wouldn't be seen." Karl added, his brown was furrowed with concentration.

"Oh." The King said as he rubbed his forehead, "That makes more sense." He sighed, coming to the realization that it was dark out and they were dressed in black, meaning that they blended in with the night.

"Karl- do you remember anything else? Anything at all?" XD asked, everyone leaned forward to see the human's response. Karl furrowed his brow with concentration before looking up hesitantly and shaking his head.

"I'm sorry, but there's only blurs here and there. I... I don't recognize most of you." Karl said as he anxiously fidgeted with his hands. His hands suddenly stopped moving as he looked at XD, "I- I think there were two people I was trying to get back to, though, but I can't see their faces at all." Karl added with concentrated eyes.
