Chapter Twenty || The First Battle

They arrived at their encampment by the following afternoon. General Puffy was the one to greet them and assign them camp areas, Dream saw the relief flooding her eyes and felt guilty that they didn't come sooner.

Techno led their group to the quiet corner of the wooded camp that they were assigned to and let them set up their tents, Dream tied Spirit to a tree nearby and smoothed out their mane again before unclipping his backpack.

Dream placed his backpack a few feet from Spirit and began to set up his tent, he saw a bear hybrid and Technoblade setting up nearest to him. Dream ignored it as he finished setting his tent up and threw his backpack inside.

He zipped up his tent before turning around and jumping back as Technoblade was standing there. He quickly fell into a bow, "Prince." He greeted, Techno sorted and allowed him to rise. "Dream. Come on, General Puffy wants to see us." He said before turning and gesturing for the ram to follow.

Dream followed him through the encampment, adverting his gaze when it came to injured soldiers and medical and tents. Techno seemed almost unbothered by it all, if anything, he was trying to quiet something.

Dream sped up his steps to be beside Technoblade, "Are they loud?" He asked, Techno sighed and nodded quietly with a flinch. Dream nodded before thinking of something, "Wasn't there a book to remove them?" He asked, Techno nodded.

"Didn't have time to use it, Phil was busy with the war and we didn't know anyone else who could read it, it was written in another language." Techno mused, Dream raised an eyebrow, "What'd the letters look like?" He asked, earning himself a quizzical look from the Prince.

Dream shook his head before grabbing his necklace chain. "Did some of the letters look like these?" He asked and pointed to the protection character charms. Techno looked surprised but nodded, "How- How'd you know?" He asked.

Dream smiled, "It's a Godly book, I assumed that it would be written in Enchanted." He said with a shrug, "And a few people in the castle know how to read it." He answered with a mischievous grin, Techno looked at him with surprise.

"Actually? Who knows?" He asked quickly, Dream thought to himself before listing the people off. "Well, myself, Sapnap, and George all learned at it as a 'secret language' thing. Karl definitely knows it, as does the King. Prince Tommy's guard also knows it." Dream laughed at the memory.

"And I'm pretty sure Schlatt and the librarian are also semi-fluent- Tubbo's learning as well." Dream mused, Techno was shocked, Dream looked at the sun and smiled.

"It's that popular, eh? That's nerdy." Techno said, Dream laughed at his reply, startling Techno. "It's the old language- of course it's nerdy!" He replied, Techno smiled at that.

They fell silent as they continued on their way through the woods. They eventually reached the large white tent that Puffy had told them to meet her at.

Dream opened the tent for Techno and ducked in after him. They were greeted by a few captains, another general, and four scouts. Puffy nodded to them as they enter the tent.

"Afternoon, Dream, Prince." She greeted with a quick bow, "We called you here because we needed your help with battle formations and strategies." She informed them as she gestured to the map.

The map looked like the one in the Castle, but with much more blow settlements and camps for the Arctic, and red settlements for the humans.

"Our scouts have reported that the humans are sending out an encampment of a few thousand to capture this field." Puffy informed them as she tapped an empty area scarily close to their camp.
