Karl woke up earlier that morning, he read his books and put together his outfit. He ate his regular breakfast, he read his books some more while writing in some more information. It was a peaceful morning for him, and he was glad.

A knock sounded from his door, he smiled before clipping his two books back onto his belt and opening the door, it was Sapnap, of course.

Karl grinned and greeted him with a smile, "What's the plan for today?" He asked Sapnap excitedly, the blaze chuckled, "I'm not sure, I figured we could go bother Quackity sometime today, but other than that, nothing." He replied.

Karl grinned, "Let's go see Q now then!" He offered happily, Sapnap grinned. They duo ran off to go bother their other friend, one being completely oblivious the blush on the other's face.

The duo happily made their way through the winding hall of the castle, they were slowly becoming familiar to Karl through muscle memory, his normal memory was something to never trust.

They eventually came out onto the bridge, the sun had finished peaking over the distant mountains beyond the forests and fields. Karl promised himself that he'd see an Arctic sunrise or sunset one day, he would achieve that goal one day- it was an easy one anyway.

Then, they entered the more fancy castle. Maids, advisors, and other castle staff were already bustling around and walking down the halls, anxiety and worry leaked out of each and every one of them, no doubt from the King leaving for the war.

"Why's everyone here so early? Is it because of the King leaving?" Karl whispered quietly as they walked up many straight staircases and many twisting staircases, occasionally they went down one of two, but they were mainly going up into the castle.

"I think so?" Sapnap began, "Almost everyone in the Army is gone and the Kingdom is currently involved in a war right now, so you're probably right." Sapnap added, he mumbled something after it that Karl couldn't quite catch.

"What was that?" Karl asked, Sapnap smiled fondly. "They might be getting ready for a party as well, they normally happen once every few months to entertain the nobles." Sapnap smiled as he remembered one from awhile ago before sighing.

"I suppose this one with be canceled like the last one, it seems rather inappropriate to throw a party without King Philza here, and during a war." Sapnap added as the rounded a corner and continued on.

"The last one was canceled as well, it was supposed to be celebrating the Guards Tournament, but a certain human showed up and they canceled it." Sapnap teased and nudged Karl, the human gasped dramatically in response.

"Huh? Really!? Oh my gods, I didn't mean to cancel any of your parties!" Karl replied jokingly in return, the two laughed until they were in front of a pair of arched wooden doors.

Sapnap knocked on the door, a tired, but familiar, voice responded, "Come in." They said, Sapnap opened the door and went in as Karl followed him.

The office, in Karl's opinion, was nice. A large desk with a comfortable chair and large windows behind it, multiple bookcases and shelves, two extra chair in front of the desk, and nice torches and framed papers or paintings spread throughout the room.

Quackity sat behind the desk, he looked exhausted. His eyes were dropping and dark, his hair was a mess, and his wings were full of broken, twisted feathers.

Sapnap's smile fell as he slowly moved closer, "Q?" He asked quietly, the duck hybrid slowly lifted his head before spotting Sapnap and having his eyes light up.

"Sap! Karl? What are you guys doing here?" He asked, his voice was clouded with exhaustion and he looked like he was about to collapse. The duo exchanged worried looks before Sapnap took a step forward.
