-Five days later-

It was nearly dawn when Dream cheered with relief and excitement as the staggered into the valley between Malevina and the Arctic Empire. He nearly cried upon seeing the familiar castle in the distance, the flags were lowered, strangely, but it was still the castle.

The sun just barely peaking over the horizon, casting a surreal glow over the castle and villages, the snow reflected the sky's beauty and sparkled lightly. The trees were a rich green with snow covering them, and the roads were made of stone and were spelled to never be covered in snow, making the Kingdom look even cooler.

He heard Techno and Karl cheering from beside him. He looked and the Kingdom before him and wanted to cry tears of relief. They were nearly home. The familiar cold wind blew  past him, he grinned. He heard Karl shiver a bit though, his resistance to the cold must've gone down while he was in the warmer part of the world.

Dream then squinted at the castle. "Hey Tech? Why're the flags down?" He asked curiously, Techno and Karl then looked at the lowered castle flags. Dream had never seen that happen before though, normally, they were waving proudly in the wind, tall above the castle. But not this time- they were never that low and sad- they were barely even waving.

"I think it means that the Kingdom's in mourning, maybe a general or captain got killed in battle?" Techno offered with a shrug, Dream's quickly smile fell. "I hope that no one's dead." He responded, Karl then stepped forward.

"Let's go to the castle now!" He said excitedly, "I want to see your towns! They look epic from here!" He said excitedly before nearly running down the hill, Techno caught him though.

"We need to stay slow." He warned Karl, "We can't risk anyone knowing that you're a human, it'd cause a Kingdom-wide panic." He said, "We can steal horses one we get to a town, and then we can go to the capitol." He said, Dream laughed a the Prince.

"Steal? Alright, Prince Technoblade, way to give your family more of a reason to ground 'ya." Dream teased, Karl laughed as well, but Techno rolled his eyes and began walking down the hill, Karl and Dream followed him quickly after.

Dream found it slightly more difficult to walk in the snow with his crutch, but he managed. Techno and Karl were there for when he fell down anyways. They continued to talk along the way though, telling stories, exchanging animal facts, and talking about jewelry? Dream didn't know, but who was he to judge, it was a fun topic.

Dream was enjoying the cool, family wind that he'd missed so much when Techno begun to talk to him again. "Do you think you'll be able to ride your horse alone?" Techno asked, Dream glanced at his leg before looking up and shaking his head.

Techno sighed, "I thought so." He thought for awhile until his head snapped up, "Karl, do you know how to ride a horse?" He asked, Karl nodded as well. "I grew up in a castle, Techno." He told the prince again, Techno rolled his eyes.

"Okay, so when we get into the closest town- it's called Wintercrest- we'll steal two horses. I'll share with Dream and help him onto the horse while Karl will have his own- we'll take speedy ones and hopefully get into the capitol by noon." He explained, the two got it and he exhaled, it'd been a few years since he'd needed to steal a horse.

Hours later, around 7:30 am, the trio arrived into the silent town of Wintercrest. Techno led them to a stable where a blonde woman in a black veiled hat and a black dress stood.

She had mouse ears, they noticed, she saw them approaching and offered sad smiled to them. "Going to the capitol?" She asked quietly. Techno nodded, barely hiding his shock.
