All of us stood before the male who paced in his office, back and forth and then in circles. Poorly contained rage swam in his obsidian eyes like flecks of golden pixie dust. He was trembling from the anger, the rage he felt. Grip tightening around the pen he held onto as each small second passed by which only increased the fear coursing through my veins. Lex had his head hung low as Viktor walked towards him, almost ready to devour the male like a ravenous animal.
Before he could say a word, I stepped between them.
"It's not his fault. I was the one that insisted on going to the restroom alone because I'm not some little girl that doesn't know how to handle herself."
His arms were thrown behind his back, nostrils flaring. I was basically convulsing under his fiery gaze, perspiration dripping out of every pore in my body specifically my forehead. Lex was standing behind me and when Viktor took a step forward, I immediately retreated back coming in contact with Alexie's firm chest.
"You fucking act like a little girl, Eira. Running around on the street, going to the restroom all alone. What were you thinking?"
I couldn't complain because I deserved to get scolded but his rude tone still hurt me. Though I masked the emotions of pain swirling in my eyes by putting on a hard. Throwing my arms across my chest, I looked up at him with confidence. "You're angry which is understandable but don't be pissed at Lex and Eve. Both of them didn't do anything, let them leave and have this conversation with me."
The blonde held an appalled look in his almost navy blue eyes. I guess he really didn't expect me to defend him ever in this life nor another.
"Don't be pissed at Alex? He wasn't assigned to have fucking dinner with you. He was there to protect you, to keep an eye on you. If Cesar can reach to you then by all means you're not safe at all."
I scoffed at his voice. It was slowly raising and picking on octaves. "Oh he did protect me because if it weren't for him a car would've ran over me."
Turning to Lex, I grabbed his arm and tugged it right in front of Viktor, showing him the now dry patch of blood clinging to his arm. The saturation was gone deepening the crimson red blood and then Viktor's hard gaze fell on it. But there was no shift in his facial expression.
No guilt of raising his voice on his most loyal man. No regret.
"I sent you to pick out a wedding dress, not put yourself and my man into dangerous situations. I didn't know you weren't even capable of doing such a small task." Everyone gasped at his words but I stood there, a stinging sensation spreading into my heart.
"You need to snap out of this optimistic illusion that you have created inside your mind. Believe it or not, things are very difficult in the real world. There's pain, there's suffering and there's danger looming everywhere. In my word, especially, you can never be too careful." He was deeply upset. "You have suffered, I know but you have no idea of the suffering that is awaiting you. One wrong move and there are beast like men ready to devour you."
