Regret was the only feeling you could use to describe your job. Everyone always complains about their jobs but you actually hated yours.

You had been hired as a receptionist for Stark tower and had been extremely happy due to the high pay which helped you keep your son in a good school.

The first few weeks were decent as your only issue had been a security mix up. It was when the Maximoff siblings started coming to the tower.

Wanda had smiled and kept conversation with you as they waited for Tony to come talk to them but Pietro just stared at you the whole time with some sort of disgusted look on his face even when you tried to say hello.

Tony had finally arrived to grab the twins, Wanda said goodbye and to have a nice day while Pietro kept the same look upon his face.

You just figured it was because you were new and he didn't trust you yet but even after working there for two months he still would give you looks.

Today you had to bring your son with you since it was a teacher conference day and you hadn't remembered to get a sitter, you had checked with your boss and it was completely fine as long as he stayed near you at all times.

Everything had been going great until Wanda had a meeting with Tony.

Pietro apparently went everywhere with her but since it was a private meeting he couldn't sit in so he sat in the waiting lobby, in a chair across from you.

Henry had been coloring for the most part, stopping every now and then to read for a little while. Whenever you would pause what you were doing to check on him you'd notice Pietro staring at him.

You were typing up a report when Henry stopped reading and asked where the bathroom was, after pointing him in the right direction you turned back to your computer and resumed your typing.

Feeling like you were being stared at, you looked up to find Pietro's gaze now on you.

"Can I help you Mr. Maximoff? "

Pietro stares at you for a second longer before clearing his throat, "Call me Pietro please. I just never realized you were a mother. How old is he? "

Answering his question, you say Henry's ten but don't say anything else and turn back to your work. A few seconds pass before Pietro lets out a small sorry.

"It's alright, I get it a lot. I had him when I was younger and I thought I was invincible. "

He nods his head at your statement and continues to stare, "You don't wear a ring, are you not in a relationship? "

You laugh at the question and look up from your work to see if Henry is back before answering.

"His father is dead. We were only dating at the time I was pregnant, he died before we could move forward. "

The waiting room stays quiet until you hear the sound of Henry running down the hallway, "Don't run in here, sweetheart. "

Henry gives you a sheepish apology and looks over at Pietro to see if he disturbed him. Pietro smiles so Henry rushes to sit back down and goes back to coloring.

Everything is quiet till Pietro gets up and comes towards your desk, looking over the small divider to see what Henry is doing. He's too invested in his colored pencils to notice the superhero watching him.

Pietro smiles and points at the picture, Henry finally notices his presence and looks up.

"Can I color with you?"

Nodding his head, Henry grabs his paper and colored pencils and goes around your desk, sitting down on the ground while Pietro sits down across from him.

You watch the two for a while before going back to your work.

Pietro looks at you for a second which causes Henry to laugh. A confused look comes onto Pietro's face but Henry stops so he's able to explain.

"Do you like my mom? You're always looking at her and smiling. I look at my friend Morgan like that but that's cause I like like her. "

A stunned look is all Pietro can do as he looks at the little boy.

How could a ten year old figure out his feelings but not himself.
