You didn’t know why but you couldn’t sleep. You had tried almost everything but nothing was able to work, you even had JARVIS sing to you. Sighing, you got up from bed, threw on a hoodie since it was freezing in the tower, and made your way to the kitchen to find something to eat.As you made your way closer you noticed the faint smell of pancakes and what sounded like singing. As you reached the threshold of the room you noticed Thor standing in front of the oven singing, what you assumed was an Asgardian song. Taking a seat on the counter you realize Thor’s making pancakes.
“What are you going up this early?”
Thor jumps as your voice resonates in the kitchen, turning and lowering his guard when he realizes it’s you and not an intruder, “I could ask the same thing, friðill.”
You chuckled at the nickname Thor had given you, still not having figured out what it meant, and hopped down from the counter and stood next to the God of thunder. He had made four pancakes which were still steaming on the plate he had put them on while he cooked the fifth one.
“Would you like some?”
Looking up you noticed the faint smile on his face as he finally finished and turned off the burner. You nod your head as you take out another plate and grab two pancakes from the stack before going into the cabinet and grabbing the honey as Thor gives you a confused look, ”What are you getting that for?”
You let out a laugh as you take the plates and put them on the table, taking a seat as Thor grabs the silverware and sits across from you.
“I like the taste of honey on my pancakes more than syrup, plus it’s better for you.”
Thor nods his head as he thinks about what you said and grabs the honey. You smile as he squeezes the sticky substance onto his pancakes and digs in, starting to eat your pancakes too.
“What was that song you were singing before?”
Thor had stopped mid-way, his fork just a few inches from his mouth, and thought for a second before putting down the fork and smiling.
“It is an Asgardian song my mother would sing to me when I was a child. It’s about a mighty warrior who slays a beast but loses his love.”
“Well, it sounded beautiful.”
Thor grins at you as he returns to his pancakes, you return the gesture before continuing eating. He pauses for a moment before he speaks up again, “If you would like I could teach you. It would make me very happy to see a bit of home here.”
You think for a moment before looking at Thor and nodding your head, “I would love that.”
As you and Thor sit there finishing your pancakes he starts to teach you the song his mother once sang for him.
