We bullshitted around until the dark crept upon us.. or we crept upon it. Ruby and Scrim invited their homies to the crib so that they could join the party with us. It was a great idea, I know if anyone will hype the boys up, it's them. I was in Ruby's room until hearing a bunch of noise enter the house.
"Yessssuhh!" Scrim welcomed to which I assumed to be the guests. Hearing a bunch of woos and laughs and grunts fill the room.
"I heard you got the candy man fa the lo'," Someone taunted.
"fosho," Ruby replied.
"Well.. where he at?" The voice rose slightly, i instantly snickered at the statement. I could hear a chuckle break the silence of the room, then Ruby saying, "this way boys,"
The footsteps trailed closer to the door, then given two knocks, the door latch turned. I positioned myself to look somewhat casual.. The door opened fully to a couple jaw dropped men, meanwhile Ruby and Scrim are killing themselves laughing. I let out a giggle, "yeoo."
"Oh hollon ima be back, y'all don't get too comfy we gonna be heading out soon," Ruby announced making his way out of my view.
Scrim turned his head, adjusting it to check if Ruby was around, then placed one of his hands on a smaller, slender guy's shoulder.
"Na i think you boys who was pickin bout her should apologize for calling her a him," He cautioned.
"She kno we ain mean that mane," One of the taller, beefier men said.
"Then y'all can go," He scoffed, "she doin us a favor, y'all respect us, we respect you, you respect her, yeah?" He barked back. My eyes widened a bit, slightly uncomfortable in my presence there for the first time. It was silent for a minute or two until two "i'm sorry's" slipped out almost incoherently from the group.
"Y'all lucky y'all my partnas, someone ought ta teach y'all some manners," Scrim sighed.
On cue Ruby entered the house, "Alright everyone get yallseves loaded up we headin out."
Everyone turned hastily towards the door, making their way out the house to their cars, leaving Scrim behind, looking towards the door. He turned looking to me along with a smile that was growing on his face.
"Ya ready?" He beamed.
"Real question is," I began to state, making my way towards him, "are you ready?" I said, giving him a little poke and making my way towards the door. I could hear a little chuckle slip from him, turning my head to see Ruby rummaging through the kitchen.
"Yo rubes, everything okay?" I asked, making my way towards him.
"Yeah, just looking for something," He stammered.
"Food?" I asked as he opened and slammed the cabinets.
"Nah, yea, sure food," He sarcastically replies.
"Well looking for whatever it is like that, will not help you, whatever you need I probably have it or better," I said grabbing his upper arm to hopefully make him still.
He sighed, "cmon, let's go in the car, scrim can drive and you can dig through til you find something, sounds good?" I proclaimed.
He gave me a small nod, making our way back towards the door, releasing my hand from his arm that it had been interlocked into. "Scrimm!" I hollered.
"Jesus christ, what shawty?" He said as he gestured his ear was ringing.
"Nevermind then, I'll drive since Rubys not," I commanded.
Instantly Scrim was half way out the door, "oh you funny," he echoed as a taunt.
Ruby and I followed his tracks that led to the car. We got in, played some music, took a shot.. or two, and enjoyed the ride to what should be, the new life.
