The sun had just set as we arrived at our destination. A giant iron warehouse with two huge metal doors. We looped around the building to park in the back, where there was a parking lot with a couple cars. The cars lined up perfectly side-by-side, everyone killing the engine and getting out the vehicles.
"Alright shawty, this talkin all on you na'," Scrim gushed as I led the way to the back door as if I'd been here before.
"Yeah cause you didn't try to talk for me when you texted them yourself off my phone huh?" I taunted, pushing the latch on the door open. I walked into the seemingly empty, tiny room, Ruby and Scrim following right behind me.
"Hello?" Echoed through the building.
"Hii," I chirped.
"Wrong entrance," The voice claimed as footsteps approached us.
"Oh so you didn't want the music and extra little party favors?" I inquired sarcastically.
"I- My fault, minds been a little scrambled, of course, you can follow me," A silhouette of a somewhat visible man sighed. Everyone crowded in as we all made our way down a small hall into the main room.
"You all are.. music?" He asked.
The boys passed a couple chuckles around but never answered.
I began to catch up to what seemed like the tour guide of this night as we followed him around the place. When he stopped moving I took a step back, landing myself right in between Ruby and Scrim.
The man pointed out at something of the sort of a stage, "this is where y'all will be," then directed his hand at a couple other locations to show us the obvious used for each part of the room, still yet to meet his face.
"Well let's get set up then," Ruby insisted as everyone made their way to the cars to unload everything. I trailer behind them, almost out of sight when the question, "You must be the manager?" pondered.
My feet stopped moving, turning to see that there was no more brown hair facing me but now a familiar face that brought a demented smile.
"Oh! You! eheh, yeahh," I stammered.
"It's been a long time, yeah, ever got my message?" He asked as the nerves in my system shook rapidly.
"Uh, well no, I don't remember one, I've been a little busy lately," I lied. Hoping that someone would come in but also praying Ruby wouldn't. Knowing that it would either be chaos or.. awkward, the moment he realizes this is who he hired and Ruby sees this is who we were working for.
"This is your party?" I asked him.
"No, my friend's running late," He answered.
"That explains why I didn't know the number that texted me," I rambled. It became quiet, I turned around, making my way down the hall almost to the door when Ruby and the boys made their way back in.
"Rubes!" I tried to whisper and shout at the same time.
"Huh?"
