The time rolled by as Scrim and Ruby lit up the place. I had my own little VIP section, a nice dimly lit room with a long, comfy sofa. The walls that surrounded the door were glass so I was capable of seeing the performance. Customers came in and out, money replacing the substances that were sitting at the bottom of my bag. There would be a brief moment where no one was looking to buy, so in that time I sorted out all the pills that I wanted and organized the money.
"What's your top seller?" A voice came from the door. Marley.
"Eheh.. well to match the vibe? MDMA, got some Rohypnol, Ecstasy.. LSD.. even some Ketamine," I chuckled to what seemed to be myself as I dug around in my bag. I shrugged my shoulders looking back at Marley.
"Mind if I come sit?" He asked.
"No," I answered frankly. Oh, how bad I would've loved to tell him yes, I do mind, and so would Ruby, and so would Scrim.
He made his way, plopping himself onto the sofa, not far from me, "How much you made so far?"
My face burned up a little as an awkward laugh came out, "For me to know and you to guess," I poked, but he didn't laugh. He looked out into the sea of people and strobe lights fading.
"You're not gonna tell me, why? You cutting your money with them?" He once again investigated.
"Why would I do that?" I asked.
"You don't think they're going to be upset that you made a whole lot more than they even wish they did tonight?"
"Does it look like I'm performing?" I asked him.
"You could be," He replied pretentiously.
I huffed towards him. On queue someone from the party walked in, going up to marley.
"You got it..?" They asked, almost embarrassed. Marley and I both let out a laugh as he pointed to me. The person then seemed to be even more embarrassed than before. Quickly they made their purchase and walked back out into the crowd. Silence filled the room for a minute or two until Marley broke it.
"I'm sorry, I want to make amends, I don't want us on bad terms," Marley stated.
"Marley," I said somewhat solemnly, turning towards him to make eye contact, "We aren't on any terms," I stung at him while digging out the joint that was in my backpack.
"See this is what I mean, we're doing business together right now, I think we should seriously talk, let me get us some drinks," He proclaimed.
"We're not doing business together, I'm doing business for your friend. My only partners here is the group I brought and the fiends that sit in this bitch, okay? But yeah Marley, buy me a drink if your heart desires," I scoffed, lighting up the joint. Marley slowly got up, walking out the room and shutting the door.
I pulled the blinds down from the windows, keeping tiny slots in them so I could see what was going on outside. I then positioned myself comfortably on the sofa, dropping a small pill I had saved into my mouth. I smoked the joint waiting for my vision to be magnified, only to be interrupted by the door opening once again.
"You're actually back," I said bluntly.
"Yep, got you your favorite too," He answered.
"And what's that?"
"Amaretto," He said enthusiastically, holding the thick glass out for me to take as he held another glass and bottle in his hand.
"Mmm.. I can't say anything about that," I smiled.
"Don't worry, I still know your soft spots," He said light heartedly.
I began thinking for a while and decided it would be better to not hold any grudges. Marley and I talked for a while, though my vision started to escalate and my body started to whirl. I honestly couldn't tell you I remembered anything of the sort that we talked about, I just know when I realized how good I felt, I had to let Scrim and Ruby in on it too.
"I'll be back," I said, zipping my bag and putting it on. I got up, realizing how high I actually was. I stood still to try and gain some balance.
"Where you going??" Marley uneasily asked, standing up as I did.
"Oh, don't worry, I'm gonna let Ruby and Scrim try some of this, I'll be back," I said gently, walking towards the door.
As I reached for the handle, Marley grasped my wrist, snatching it away from the knob.
"Ayo what the fuck man?" I said, disturbed by his action.
"You can't leave here, this is where you're working," He answered. My heart dropped, I felt sick, "Go sit back down," He barked.
I approached the sofa, sitting back down onto it, "Well you go get them, bring them in here so they can try," I protested.
"Honey, they're busy last time I checked, and not with music," His words twisted into my ears as my vision began to slip. I took off my bag and placed it onto the table.
I closed my eyes for a second, trying to collect myself. I felt like my whole body was vibrating from my nerves but when I would take a peek, I was still. I tried to put together all the times that I had mixed different things together, and I had not once felt like this. I put my arm to my side, feeling something cold meet my skin.
The drink.
I quickly went to push the cup underneath me but my arms began to drag. My brain began to go into panic mode as I realized that I had been drugged. I turned my head towards him to see he had shut the blinds, the only thing lighting up the room was now a low glow of red.
"I missed you so much.. I know you don't know that," Marley's sentimental echoes rung through the room.
I blinked for a second and opened my eyes to see him right in front of me. The same demonic smile. The same covered eyes. He began to straddle me, running his fingers up and down my arm. My heart was rushing as I lifted my arms up to move his hair out of his face. I knew all I had to do was look him in the eyes, and I'd know whether this situation was true or not. I unveiled the dark brown hair from his face as my jaw began to rattle.
It was a deranged look. There was nothing behind his eyes, except for me. He took my gesture as an okay for him to touch me, so he proceeded to do so. He dove his face to my neck, licking and latching onto it.
"Marley baby," I restrained.
"Yes?" He growled.
"I have a little pink bag inside my backpack, it's in the front, it has a little pill in it. Can you give me it, you're closer to it?" I asked thoughtfully.
He let his head rest on my shoulder, then huffed, reaching over to grab my bag. He opened the front pouch, taking out the pink bag. I tried my best to shift myself, noticing more and more my body was losing control.
"What is it?" He asked, rolling the pill between his fingers.
"New prescription for my headaches," I answered as I stuck out my tongue. He dropped the pill onto my tongue.
"Mm you swallow it dry huh?" He said maliciously, putting my bag off to the side and returning back to where he was, "You know you won't feel your headache in a minute either way."
"huh?" I played off, feeling almost paralyzed. His hands left my arms and were now around my chest and neck.
Give it a minute. Give it a minute. Give it a minute.
I chanted to myself as Marly chanted disturbing fantasies into my ears. The rattling of the speakers stopped as footsteps stormed away.
"It may be over for them, but not for you, and not for me.. we both deserve this," He stammered with a heavy breath as I moved my head towards the door, "Don't think about calling out to them. because you can't." He sneered.
I looked back towards him, feeling my bones in my body once again, I stared into the void of what was so called, his eyes. He paused from feeling on me, turning to meet mine.
"Got something to say," He mocked.
"You think i'm a bitch?" I asked with a hollow voice, he looked at me shocked, "You think i'm stupid?" I mumbled.
"Well look at the position you're in sweetheart," He said, following a violent slap across my face. He began gripping on me harder, "You took a drink from me, the one you've been a bitch to for years, now look at you, limp, stupid, and yes, still a fucking bitch."
I nodded as my cheek stung, reaching my arm underneath me, trying to subtly find the cup I somehow had lost.
"You know what I think Marley?" I quietly asked.
"What?" He said, grabbing my face and pulling himself towards me so we were eye to eye.
"That if this doesn't kill you, you're going to fucking wish it did," I said scornfully.
The expression on his face dropped as I gripped the glass, slamming it across the side of his temple. Adrenaline was now rushing through my body as he rushed his hand to the side of his head. Out of panic I head butted him, making him fall back into the floor.
"Fucking bitch?" I shouted as I stood over him. I straddled him, pinning his arms against the floor, "A crazy fucking bitch I'll tell you," I said with a demented laugh.
"Look, no no no, just wait," He stuttered.
"Fuck you Marly," I yelled, "Let's drink, let's have a talk since you wanted one so bad," I taunted him, snatching the bottle of Amaretto off the table.
As I took a sip, "Yeah let's just relax here," nervously slipped from his mouth.
The voice of Ruby came from the outside of the room, "You don't want him to see this side of you.. right?" Marley once again interrupted.
I took another sip of the Amaretto, placing the cap back on and getting up. I looked down at the injured man I once called my best friend and held my hand out for him to grasp, helping him back up. I turned around to grab my backpack until he murmured "psycho" under his breath.
"Me? Psycho? You drugged me," I quietly answered, putting my arms through the strap.
I turned towards him, looking sincerely at him, "I'm not psycho, I'm fucking insane," Outraged, I gripped the bottle tightly, smashing it across the other side of his head.
He fell back onto the ground, pushing himself away from me towards the other side of the room. I grabbed the thick cup I had tossed to the side, breaking it on the table. I picked up a shard and made my way towards him. I kicked as hard as I could into his abdomen, squatting over him so I was now face to face with him as he gasped for air.
I aggressively grabbed his face, raising it upwards, "The difference is, I wouldn't of felt the pain, but i'm going to make fucking sure you do."
I pressed the sharp shard to his bare neck, "No, No, No!" He yelped.
His cries were interrupted.
