The last thing Vegas expected to hear were the words Pete had just uttered. He was already so confused and barely could understand why Pete was so willing to help him and be the fake boyfriend to a complete stranger.
But then, Vegas yelled at him, swore him and even strangled him; he was certain that would be enough to get some sort of answer from the other. But no, in fact that was the exact opposite of what had happened.
To Vegas, it appeared that Pete was holding tightly onto his arm. He didn't try to remove his hand. Pete had tears running down his cheeks, but he didn't even try move out of Vegas' hold. Once again that night, Vegas couldn't help but be intrigued by the unorthodox behaviour Pete displayed.
Vegas repeated Pete's words out aloud, "You want to pretend to date?" he spoke loosening his grip around his neck. But Pete didn't let go so Vegas couldn't let go...even though he had started feeling bad for the other and wanted to let go so badly. "Why?" Vegas additionally asked. "Why do you want to do that?"
And then it hit him. Tonight all Vegas was focused on was himself and how people were treating him that he barely bothered to observe Pete even though they had spent most of the evening together. What if Pete was trying to get away from someone? Vegas felt guilty for not being attentive, so guilty that this absurd idea of fake dating for the evening sounded like an appropriate solution to makeup for his obliviousness.
When Vegas looked down again at Pete, it seemed that the other had never stopped looking up at him. His were eyes red and still filled with tears that streamed down his face. Vegas felt his heart drop. He barely even understood why he felt so bad and so guilty for seeing Pete in the state he was.
Vegas knew better than to deny Pete his wishes, with those innocent does eyes, no one could resist him. Vegas lifted his free hand and shifted his stance to face Pete more directly. He attempted wiping his tears away, smiling softly. Vegas and Pete had locked their gazes; Vegas bit his lip slightly as he ran his thumb down Pete's cheek and across his lower lip.
"Okay," Vegas spoke. "Let's do it. Let's pretend to date just for tonight..."
Pete closed his eye and let out a relieved sigh before opening them again and smiling softly. "Thank you, Dr. Theerapanyakun..." he said very faintly.
In this moment, Vegas wanted to do nothing more than kiss Pete. In fact, he wanted to for a significant portion of the night. Well for tonight they were boyfriends, so why couldn't he?
Vegas was going to act of his desires and so took a step closer to Pete, bending his arm that was wrapped around his neck and tilted his head slightly. He ran his free hand through the side of Pete's hair and caressed his cheek. Now, Vegas watched Pete closely. Pete seemed to like his touch; it made him want to leave his hand on his cheek when he saw Pete tilting his head closer to his hand.
Vegas closed his eyes and trying his best not to cross any boundaries placed a soft kiss on Pete's lips.
