"I miss her. I miss her so much. I miss him so much too. Why the fuck was I always so alone?" Vegas thought to himself. It pained him how he kept seeming to lose everyone he cared for. He just wanted to no be so alone all the time. He felt like no one wanted him; like no one could ever put up with him and his difficult personality and part of him hated himself for that.
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his thighs as he looked down, sobbing. He really was hurting so much so that his heart felt like it would explode or shatter. Whatever it was, he felt like his heart could no longer bear the weight of this pain.
"Vegas?" he heard causing his to turn around. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even hear the door open. However, despite him trying him best to figure out who had entered the room, he could not make out this person.
He felt the bed dip as someone sat beside him. Pete. It had been three months but Vegas could not forget this way the other had smelled. He had such a unique fragrance that had a lasting effect; it was as if it has been embedded in his mind forever.
"Are you okay?" Pete asked. But Vegas just stayed quite.
Somehow having Pete so close to him, sounding so gentle and tender, only worsened the pain. He knew they would not ever have a romantic relationship regardless of how much he wanted it, but still was disappointed when he came to the same realization over and over again.
He hated himself so much for this, but even with all his might, he could not longer control it; Vegas began sobbing again. He brought his hands up to his face and he tried to block the tears and his look of embarrassment as the pain consumed him.
It was if Pete knew exactly what Vegas would do next, that the moment he lifted his hands, Pete tried to comfort him by placing his hand onto his shoulder.
"I miss her, Pete," Vegas spoke softly. "This was exactly like the way my mother died," he continued.
Pete moved slightly closer to the other and moved his hand onto this thigh as he listened.
Vegas truly regretted what he had said, he hated that he was allowing himself to be vulnerable in front of Pete who he knew had no regard or care for him. But the reason behind why Pete had followed him somewhat confused him, but he chose to brush that off, grateful to be around the other again.
"It'll be okay," Pete said softly, caressing his thigh. "Everything is going to be okay, Vegas..."
"He remembered my name?" Vegas thought to himself and that's when he behaved so out of character. He let his emotions take over and the moment those words left his mouth, he immense regretted it, "I miss you, Pete," he said as he placed his hand on top of Pete's.
Even Pete was shocked to hear Vegas' confession. He shocked himself as well. Why was he behaving so pathetic? So fucking desperate? It was not like Pete even liked or cared about him anyway.
"You should leave," Vegas said after a few moments, trying to cover up his earlier comment. "I need some time on my own."
But Pete refused. And while part of Vegas was pretty annoyed, some part of him was content knowing that he'd spend a little while longer with the other.
"You should get some rest," Pete said. "Lay down for a bit, I'm sure you have at least a headache from the adrenaline rush that comes with performing CPR."
"Mmh," Vegas just said. "I'll set an alarm for-"
"I'll wake you up," Pete disrupted him. "Don't worry and just relax. I am not leaving..."
