Someone's voice was echoing in the background as Cassie opened her eyes and felt a sharp pain in the neck. "Cassie, can you hear me?" She heard Steve say.

"Yeah, I'm okay," She croaked out and stood up with the help of Lee and Steve. "I think I snapped my neck when I hit the ground."

Lee looked at her. "Well you came around quick." Lee commented on how fast she had woken up.

Cassie gave her a look. "I spent a thousand years with Niklaus Mikaelson, believe it or not I've had my neck broken a few times." She told her and Lee laughed.

The laughter didn't last for long as Thor came over with more Chitauri trailing after him. Lee and Steve let go of Cassie and they tried their best to keep fighting but everyone was getting tired.

Steve's shield was being being shared between him and Cassie. Thor hit Lee on the back with his lightening so the power from the clash of her forearms was 100x more powerful than before. They were jumping on cars, using the aliens own guns against them.

Thor helped Steve up when he got knocked down. "Are you ready for another bout?" Thor asked them all.

"What, are you getting sleepy?" Steve asked, raising a brow and looking around.

"I can close it." Natasha suddenly came through the comms. "Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down."

"Do it!" Both Lee and Steve shouted at the same time.

"No wait!" Tony interrupted.

"Tony these things are still coming," Cassie reminded him.

"I got a nuke coming in." He told them. "It's gonna blow in less than a minute...and I know just where to put it."

They all caught on quickly. "Stark, you know that's a one-way trip," Steve said.

Tony ignored him. "Save the rest for the turn, J."

They all stood and watched as Tony flew through the streets flying up to the portal and the minute he got there, he was gone. They waited a few minutes, hoping he would come back, but he never did. A small tear dropped from Cassie's eye.

"Close it," Steve told Nat, and she did. As soon as it was about to be gone, suit of armour came falling down through the sky.

"Oh my god," Lee breathed out.

"He's not slowing down," Thor pointed out. Thor went to go and get him but Hulk beat him to it, he caught Tony quickly and brought him down next to them. Although, even though they took his mask off they couldn't tell whether he was breathing or not.

"I can hear a heartbeat," Cassie told them and they looked at her. "It's extremely faint, but I think it's there."

After she said that, Hulk roared loudly causing Tony to wake up.

"What the hell?" Tony asked and Lee laughed. "What just happened?"

"You're an idiot, Tony Stark," Cassie told him, relieved that he was still alive.

He looked at her and Lee. "Please tell me neither of you kissed me," He begged and they shook their heads.

Steve looked around. "We won."

"Alright. yay! Hurray!" Tony exclaimed. "Good job guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow, let's just take a day off. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is but I wanna try it."

"Let's deal with Loki first, and then we can go for lunch," Lee told him.

Everything was over. They had done it. They had dealt with Loki in the tower and then the Strike team and had taken the sceptre off their hands, which they were grateful for. Shawarma actually turned out to be very nice, thanks to Tony's recommendation and somehow the place had managed to stay open.

The world knew about the Avengers now, and they knew about aliens in outer space. It was all over the news. People were mourning over the lives that were lost and celebrating over the win. Cassie saw everything on the news. Children explaining what happened with much enthusiasm, people getting tattoos of their faces.

It was crazy, but they needed a break. Tony had told them he was going to turn the tower into some sort of base for them but that would take a while and they knew that. They were currently in Central Park saying goodbye.

Thor had Loki in handcuffs and a muzzle over his mouth after he wouldn't shut up. Selvig had come with them and brought the Tesseract so Thor was going home with it and Loki, not that the council was happy about it. Thor gave Loki a handle of the box the tesseract was in, he gave them a nodded and suddenly they were gone.

"Hey Tony, you not gonna say goodbye to your godmother?" She asked and gave her a hug. "I'll see you soon."

"Dinner next week?" He asked her.

"You got it kid." She smiled and he left.

Bruce was going with Tony and Cassie assumed Clint was going home considering Laura was probably worried sick about him but he was also sharing a car with Nat. She said goodbye to Steve and then it was Lee left.

"Where are you off to?" Cassie asked her.

Lee smiled. "To see some old friends," She said. "What about you?"

"Well, last night I got word my mother has come back from the dead and the first thing she wants to do is throw a ball as a family reunion," Cassie told her. "So I guess I'm going home."

Lee pulled Cassie into a hug before walking off. Cassie opened her car and climbed in where she saw the ball invitation on top of her bag in the passenger seat. She picked t up, looked at it and sighed. "I guess I really am going home, let's just hope it's a good idea."

And so, Cassie set off for Mystic Falls.
