season 3, episode 22

The past few hours had been hectic and chaotic and every other word you can think of for being a mess. Alaric was back, the Salvatore's had Klaus' desiccated body and now Cassie was walking up to the Gilbert house with Elijah as he was willing to strike a deal. Classic Elijah.

When they were let inside by Elena, they walked straight to the kitchen and got straight to business.

"All we need is to take that stake away from him," Elijah explained. "Once he's been disarmed, and the weapon's in my possession, my family will scatter to the ends of the earth and Alaric will follow us."

"And you'll just, run?" Stefan asked, not believing a word coming from Elijah's mouth.

"We've done it before, no harm in doing it again." Cassie said. "Klaus, Rebekah and Astrid spent the better half of a thousand years running from our father."

Elijah nodded. "What's another half century while Elena lives out her human life?"

Elena sighed. "We finally stopped him, Elijah.  After everything that he's done to us...I can't just let you bring him back."

Cassie was tensing up, she knew her brother had done bad things but she would protect him to the ends of the earth, and no one but her and her siblings got to speak about him like that.

"I give you my word, Elena." Elijah swore. "We will not revive Klaus within yours or your children's lifetimes."

"Perhaps it'll finally teach him some manners." Cassie mused.

"Why should she trust you?" Matt Donovan spoke from behind. them and Cassie almost got a jump scare. "All you've done is screw her over."

"And for that I am deeply ashamed," Elijah replied with no hesitation. "But know this. She could have been dead the minute my sister and I walked through those doors. So, Elena, I leave it to you to make the decision. Whether to trust us or not."

"Not. Hello? Did that concussion give you brain damage?" Damon spoke from the speaker phone. "Their lunatic siblings will kill you any chance they get!"

"I will right now if you don't shut up!" Cassie yelled back but Elijah just shushed her.

"My sisters and Kol will honour the terms, if you return Klaus' body to us-"

"And Astrid?"

The two Mikaelsons looked at each other. "We're working on it." Cassie answered.

"If you return Klaus' body to us, Elena will come to no harm." Elijah continued. Everyone went silent for a moment.  "Do we have a deal?"

"No! No, no, no, no. Did I mention no?" Damon interrupted once again.

"Did you not hear him? It's Elena's decision dumbass." Cassie retorted.

Stefan agreed with her. "Elena, it's up to you." He said.

"Oh come on!"

Cassie was really tempted hang up the phone. Elena just looked at the two siblings. "Why do you want Klaus' body?" She asked.

"He's our brother," Cassie answered simply. "We remain together."

Elena sighed. "We have a deal." She said.

Elijah and Cassie were standing silently together in the woods after finding out Alaric had killed Klaus. Surprisingly, Cassie hadn't lashed out at anyone but that was probably because she was in denial. Rebekah and Astrid suddenly appeared behind them. They both looked like they had been sobbing, Astrid being the worst.

"He's gone," Rebekah said to them. "There was nothing we could do to stop it." Rebekah suddenly walked forward to Cassie into a hug while Elijah went to Astrid.

"Tyler Lockwood is dead, but the rest survived." Elijah told them. "You said that Niklaus turned their bloodline."

"I thought he did." Astrid said through the tears.

"We definitely didn't." Cassie confirmed along with Rebekah.

"It wasn't me, it wasn't Kol." Elijah continued. The four becoming more concerned and confused by the second.

Astrid shook her head. "It was Nik, I'm sure of it."

"Then how are they still alive?"
