Cassie woke up the next morning still not feeling as well as she could have but, like the past thousand years, she put on a brave face and headed down stairs. When she walked into the living room she was met with Astrid and Kol.

"Morning. Where's Rebekah?" She asked with a yawn while lying on the couch with her head in Kol's lap who began stroking her hair.

"Probably in someone's bed," Astrid spoke casually. "How are you?"

Cassie sighed. "I've been better. How was the rest of the ball?"

"The champagne was alright, you didn't miss much though." Kol mused and Astrid laughed.

"I think he might be missing out the part where Damon Salvatore killed him." Nik informed her as he walked into the room.

Cassie joined in laughing. "Damon Salvatore killed you?"

"To be fair, I had no idea he was coming after me." Kol defended himself against the two girls. Luckily he was saved by Rebekah who then walked through the door.

Cassie immediately sat up, finding the perfect chance to tease her sister. "Well, well, well! There's our girl!" She started. Kol went and stood in front of her.

"Get out of my way, Kol." Rebekah snarled.

"Out all night, what a scandal!" Kol continued. "I trust you did better than that commoner, Matt, was it?"

"If you don't shut your mouth the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth." The blonde threatened him.

"Oh! Someone's feisty today," Astrid said playfully. "Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?"

"More like in someone else's bed." Cassie chuckled to herself.

Rebekah pushed passed Kol but then she saw the look on Nik's face. "Don't start Nik," She said with annoyance laced in her tone.

Nik put his hands up in mock defence. "I didn't say anything." He said and went back to his drawings.

"I'm bored," Kol complained as he sat on the arm of the couch next to Cassie. "Our sister's a strumpet but at least she's having fun. I need entertainment."

They all looked at him. "What are you waiting for?" Nik asked. "Go on. Have at it."

"It's not fun to go alone," He continued complaining. "Join me Nik. It's the least you could do after sticking a dagger in my heart."

Cassie snorted, knowing he was guilt tripping their big brother. Nik just looked at him in annoyance, knowing exactly what he was doing but he just rolled his eyes.

Nik then put his drawings down on the table. "Okay, why not? I didn't have nearly enough to drink last night what with you trying to murder Rebekah's date." He said. Cassie pushed Kol off the arm of the couch. "Cassie, come I have something for you."

"Go, this house has enough men rolling about in it!" Astrid shouted at them.

"Just like Bekah." Kol teased one more time while the blonde threw her shoe at him.

"Good riddance, both of you!"

Cassie followed Nik into the next room in confusion. "I probably should've given you this a long time ago, but, I've been holding on to it instead."

"What? What is it?" She asked impatiently.

Nik pulled out a box and opened it. "The night you were taken back in 1945, I found these near the grave you were standing by." He pulled out what looked like a necklace at first, but Cassie gasped when she saw they were dog tags.

She took them carefully and looked at them, it had been a long time since she had held them. To her, it was like she had a piece of Bucky back. "Thank you." She said tearfully and hugged him tightly. Then she hit him. "Thats for not giving them sooner."

All in all, Cassie knew today would be a good day.

Cassie was wrong earlier because today was not a good day. While going on a walk through town, Finn had snapped her neck and kidnapped her. He had taken her to their mother who was beginning the sacrifice.

"Why do you need me here and not the others?" She asked angrily.

"Because you didn't drink the champagne last night, which linked everyone together." Esther replied calmly. Finn put a piece of cloth around her mouth and gagged her so she couldn't talk.

Soon enough, it had gone dark and her three other brothers and Astrid emerged from the trees. When Cassie saw them she began to wriggle in Finn's grasp but he only held her tighter.

"My sons, come forward." Esther said calmly.

"Stay beside me." Finn said to Esther.

She shook her head. "It's okay, they can't enter."

When the others tried to get closer to the circle the flames only got bigger. "That's lovely." Kol shook his head. "We're stuck out here while the son plays sacrificial lamb and kidnaps our youngest sister."

"How pathetic you are Finn." Astrid spat.

"Be quiet, Kol. Your brother knows true virtue you cannot even imagine." Esther defended him.

"Whatever you think of us, killing you own children would be and atrocity." Elijah told her calmly. He always managed to stay calm in these types of situations.

"My only regret is that I did not let you die a thousand years ago-" Cassie cut her off.

She spat out the gag in her mouth. "Well that's your fault then, isn't it? We never asked for this!" She shouted at her mother. The blonde was shut up when Finn stabbed her and she fell to the floor.

"Enough! All this talk is boring me. End this now mother, or I'll send you back to hell." Nik threatened her, already getting bored and agitated.

"For a thousand years I've been forced to watch you. I felt the pain of every victim, suffered while you shed blood. Even you Elijah, with your claim to nobility, you're no better, and Astrid the worst out of you all. All of you, you're a curse on this earth stretched out over generations. If you have come to plead for your life, I'm sorry, but you have wasted your time. And to make sure you do not try to stop me..." Esther then used her magic to drag Astrid into the circle and she fell on the floor next to Cassie.

Then something happened. "Not sisters, do not abandon me!" She begged.

Finn pulled her back so Cassie turned to her sister-in-law. "Do you remember that assassin training I taught you a few months ago?" Astrid nodded. "I think now might be a good time to use it."

Everything went by in a flash and suddenly Cassie was sitting next to Kol. "Are you alright?" He asked and she nodded.

"I just want to go home now." She said with a tired voice. He helped her up and they walked back to the house.

Cassie sighed as she flopped down on her bed in exhaustion. When she came to Mystic Falls, she thought she could have a few weeks of peace but deep down she knew something would go wrong.

She slowly got into her pyjamas and climbed into bed. Cassie saw the dog tags on the table and decided to put them on so when she went to sleep, it was a little easier knowing she finally had a piece of him with her.
