KABANATA 5

There were two females sitting on his bed. One was wearing a light pink dress and her blonde hair was tied into a ponytail. The other was wearing a light blue dress, same style with the person beside her, and she has a long black wavy hair.

He stood rooted beside the doorframe as he stared shock at the couple, they were the couple who helped him.

“What, you're not going to greet us?” Sheena asked softly, the one who's wearing a pink dress.

Ethan smiled brightly after the initial shock, he did not hesitate to run into their open arms hug them both.

“Saan ka galing?” tanong ni Sheena. Her voice was very gentle.

Tumayo ng maayos si Ethan. “Sa bahay po na rerentahan ko, ma.” sabi niya. He didn't lie— he will pay the rent together with Alpas.

“Hindi ka babalik sa B City?” tanong ni Diana. In contrast to the gentle voice of Sheena, her voice was a bit loud.

“I'll visit you naman po, nay.” sabi ni Ethan habang nakangiti.

‘Ma’ ang tawag niya kay Sheena habang ‘nay’ naman ang tawag niya kay Diana.

“Tumangkad ka yata?” tanong ni Sheena at tumayo siya para tignan ang height ni Ethan.

Ethan bit his lower lip. Hindi niya alam kung sasabihin niya ba sa kanila ang nangyari sa kanya kahapon.

Napansin ni Diana na natulala si Ethan. “What's wrong?”

Ethan smiled and shook his head. “Wala po. Kailangan ko na pong mag-impake.”

“Tulungan ka namin.” sabi ni Sheena.

Ethan smiled again. “Huwag na po, ma.”

Kumuha siya ng dalawang bottled water sa tabi ng study table at binigay niya ito sa kanyang mama at nanay.

Pagkalipas ng isang oras, na-ipon na agad ni Ethan ang kaniyang mga gamit. Kaunti lang kasi ang kanyang mga kagamitan sa dormitory.

“Tatawag lang po ako saglit ng taxi.” sabi ni Ethan.

Pinigilan siya ni Diana at sinabing, “Huwag na. Kami na lang ang maghahatid sayo.”

“Nako nay, sigurado po ba kayo? Ayaw ko po kayong mapagod.” sabi ni Ethan.

“Ano ka ba, ayos lang. At tsaka gusto naming makita yung rerentahan mo.” sabi ni Sheena habang nakangiti.

Pumayag na si Ethan dahil malapit lang naman ang bahay ni Alpas sa school. “Then, I would bother you both, I guess.”

The couple just smiled lovingly at Ethan and volunteered to carry his things. Their strengths were somehow on a different level.

Binaba nila ang mga gamit ni Ethan sa isahang balik lang at nilagay lahat nila sa likod ng kotse.

After a few minutes, they arrived at Alpas' house. They all moved the boxes and backpack inside Ethan's room. And they all settled in the living room. The couple were standing and Ethan was sitting on the couch.

Ethan offered them a seat but they didn't sit down. They look like they want to interrogate him.

“Mukhang may nakatira na dito, you're sharing this house with someone?” Sheena asked softly.

“Opo, ma. He's a teacher in our school.” Ethan replied with a noticable happy expression.

Sheena looked at her lover and Diana just shrugged.

“Okay lang ba sa kanya? Balik ka nalang kaya sa B City?” Sheena said. Her voice is laced with concern.

Ethan stood up and reassured her. “Ma, we're both fine with it.”
