"I assume that the training sessions are canceled until further notice?" Aziraphale inquired. A day had passed since the wonderful news and Crowley and Aziraphale were in the dining room, enjoying morning coffee."Does a bear shit in the woods?" Crowley replied as he whipped out a silver flask from his pant pocket.
"Tasteful phrasing dear." Aziraphale replied as Crowley poured the contents of the flask into his coffee mug.
"Wot? I'm celebrating. Want some?" Aziraphale politely declined so Crowley continued, "There's no way in hell or heaven that I'm letting our baby and our grand baby risk their safety around fake swords and the like. As far as I'm concerned, training is canceled!"
"I'm glad to hear it." Aziraphale replied honestly. "I wasn't really looking forward to teaching Eden how to fight, even though it was for a good reason…."
The sound of someone dashing down the stairs was heard and then they saw Gabriel rush into the kitchen.
"Gabriel? Is everything alright?" Aziraphale called. Gabriel returned and was now standing in the dining room. The Archangel's hair was a mess and he was still wearing the same clothes he had on from yesterday. But he was smiling from ear to ear as he replied, "Everything is fine. More than fine. Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic." Gabriel brushed the back of his hand over his eyes. The Archangel was clearly still quite emotional.
"Wot about Eden?" Crowley demanded. "How's she?"
Gabriel's smile broadened. "Her fever has finally broken and she's feeling hungry. That's why I came down here, I promised to make her and the baby a special meal to celebrate....." Gabriel's voice cracked when he said, "baby".
"That's a brilliant idea." Aziraphale beamed. "What did you have in mind dear?"
Gabriel's face suddenly fell. "I….uh, actually don't know….I don't want to make her sick. Perhaps the reason why she started vomiting in the first place was because of all that food she ate…."
"No no no." Crowley rose from his chair after taking a final swig of his booze laced coffee.
"Morning sickness is gonna make her vomit and feel nauseous no matter what." Crowley stated matter of factly. "Which is why for now, when Eden's in this state, something light is best. Some scrambled eggs and some toast. Since she's just came out of the fever, I recommend we just start with one scrambled egg and one slice of toast."
Crowley grabbed his dazed son in law by his wrinkled shirt collar and led him back into the kitchen.
"Right. One scrambled egg. One slice of toast. I can do that." Gabriel said, as if to remind himself that he could indeed do such a thing. The Archangel rummaged through a cabinet and found the skillet without any trouble and within seconds an egg was sizzling.
Gabriel then got out the bread and when he popped in a slice in the toaster, he got out the butter and jam.
"Nope." Crowley said. "No jam for now. Just use a tiny bit of butter."
"But-"
"Trust me." Crowley replied. "You'll get to feed her to her heart's content before you know it. But right now, we just need to keep her on light foods."
"Okay." Gabriel sighed, defeated. He put the jam back in the cabinet with a sad sigh. Eden loved jam….
"While you see to the food I'll get her a glass of apple juice. She'll like that with her breakfast…"
