Aziraphale was running through Epping Forest as fast as his legs would allow. The smell of burning wood and foliage filled the angel's nostrils."No. No. No. Please, Lord….no…"
Aziraphale finally pushed his way through the bushes and stumbled into the clearing and found Archangel Falls, the home of his daughter and son in law, up in flames.
Aziraphale cried out but no sound came out as he ran to the limp figures lying in the burnt grass. Gabriel, Eden, and Crowley weren't moving and they were covered in blood and soot.
Aziraphale tried to revive his family but they wouldn't wake up, and to his horror, Eden's clothes were on fire.
As Aziraphale tried to put out the flames with his bare hands he glanced up when he heard a snarl.
A strange beast, hidden in shadows, crept forward and shot a plume of flame right at the Principality and his family.
"Ahhh!" Aziraphale screamed as he jerked awake. He flinched when a light flickered on. The angel was somewhat soothed by the familiar surroundings of his and Crowley’s bedroom at South Downs.
"Angel!" Crowley exclaimed. "Wot's the matter?"
Aziraphale collapsed into Crowley's arms and sobbed. "Bad dream……very bad dream……"
"Oof. That's a new one." Crowley murmured softly as he hugged Aziraphale tightly.
"I'm worried about them, Crowley….especially the baby…."
"Was the baby in your dream?" Crowley asked.
Aziraphale shook his head. "No…."
"Even if he was, it was just a dream. Nothing to worry about. Gabriel and I put protection wards over the Falls ourselves. Aside from South Downs, the Falls is the second safest place to be in Britain."
Aziraphale nodded in agreement. "I suppose so."
Crowley stared at his husband for a moment. "You're feeling guilty about killing Satan are you?"
Aziraphale clenched his fists. "I….I never killed someone before….even if it was for a justified reason."
"You were doing your job as an angel and as a father." Crowley rasped. "He killed our daughter, Aziraphale. We had to watch her die because of him…." The image of Aziraphale returning to his side to mourn Eden, covered in blood and with a torn waist coat would haunt the demon always.
"I….I know…." Aziraphale rasped. "But it's still difficult to bear sometimes…."
"And you won't go through it alone." Crowley murmured, his own slumber had been riddled with terrible visions. He kissed Aziraphale as tears fell from both of their eyes.
