〰️ Chrissy's Pov 〰️

The next day of spring break, I was at Eddie's house. It was a daily ritual at this point, either being driven by Steve or Billy, but mostly Steve. I didn't want Billy and Eddie to have any animosity against each other because of me. Today, Eddie was praying to go out. He had been stuck in the trailer since he has been home, minus the day he snuck out to see me. I chuckle as I remember the day and pet his hair. There was another game scheduled for today at the school.

" So who do you want to call to come pick us up? Steve had something to do today after he dropped me off, and I know you don't want to dive with Billy," I let out a small nervous chuckle. " Does Gareth have a car?"

" No, he doesn't. But I know the little shit named Mike has an older sister that drives him. I dunno, maybe we can ask her. I'll pay." He breathes out slowly, leaning into my arm.

" Wait, you mean Nancy? Nancy like... Like Steve's Nancy? I don't know Baby. She treated him like shit. I'm not very comfortable." I say and he looks up at me.

" All you had to say was you're uncomfortable Princess. It's okay. I'll think of something." He says and rubs my cheek. I smile and peck him on the nose. Just then I remembered something.

It was just Robin's birthday the other day, March 10th, and she had gotten a new car. I remember Steve telling me. She's supposed to be back in town by now, hopefully.

I gesture him to get up and he does so, and I go to the phone. I dial her home phone and her mother picks up.

" Buckley residence, how may I help you?" Her sweet voice asks. I smile and nod to Eddie, who was probably confused.

" Hello there Mrs. Melissa, how are you today?" I ask. The voice on the other side of the phone gasps.

" Oh dear, I've been fine. I'm the one who should be asking! Are you alright? What do you need dear?" She said quickly and I chuckle.

" I've been better, but I'm okay now, Mrs. Melissa. Is Robin home by any chance?" I ask, hoping she was.

" Why yes of course, let me get her for you dear." I heard her yell Robin's name.

" Hello?" Robins hoarse voice asks, and I smile.

     " Hey there-"

" Oh my gosh are you alright? What's happened? I mean, I talk to Steve but I mean, I don't know what happened to you besides his stupid ass telling me nothing at all!" She panicked on the other side of the phone.

" I'll tell you everything I promise, I really just need a ride. Can you do that for me?" I ask. I hear her sigh.

" Where are you?" She asks.

" Trailer park, there's a van out front oh, and Eddie needs one too. Bye now!" I hang up before she can protest.

I turn back to Eddie, proud of myself. " We got a ride!"

Later I heard a car pull up, and we both went outside, Eddie had been having some difficulties with his injuries, so I've been helping him. We ambled down the stairs, and I see Robin's new car. I whooped at how cool it looked, and put Eddie in the backseat with Robin's help.

" You both look like shit. No offense... " She raises a hand to Eddie.

" Oh, no don't worry I'm aware." We all laugh. The same energy was carried throughout the car while we headed to the school.

We got out of the car, other players doing the same. Many came over to ask what happened to us. I told to stupid story of me falling off a chair while practicing, and Eddie just told them about the prison incident. We went inside and the teacher nodded at Eddie, telling him how it was a breath of fresh air to see such a kind soul back in school.

Mike and Dustin were there already, and Dustin immediately came to my side. He motioned for me to lean down and get close to him. I sit down and do so, making it easier for me.

" I know your lying, so if you need me to roll your die for you, I won't hesitate. And no one is gonna make fun of you, especially with these big guns." He flexes his arm to show absolutely nothing, so I giggle. He smiles a toothy little smile and sits next to me. And next to him is Mike who won't meet my gaze. Max sits across from me, and she looks worried. Billy is standing in the corner, probably going to go smoke in a few minutes.

We started the game, and Eddie sounds the exact same, no pain in his voice like before.

I finally felt like I had the old Eddie back.
