〰️ Eddie's Pov 〰️

〰️ After the Game 〰️

The game went well, the team won by three attack points and I was proud. I couldn't have asked for a better team.

Chrissy couldn't have made a better idea, saying that we should go to a diner and all eat to celebrate the victory. Everyone agreed, even Mike. Though, I'm still going to keep a close eye on him.

Steve drove us to the dinner along with Dustin. Chrissy sat in the front seat because ' back seat is safer for short people' clearly talking about Dustin. I wasn't best friends with Steve, but he helped Chrissy and I at the party. I'm sure he had before and I regret not being there like he was, I wish I was smart enough to talk to her sooner.

We all exit the car and Chrissy just stares off at the other side of the parking lot. " What wrong Princess?" He asked. She just shook her head and continued inside, clutching a bit of my jacket with her hand. We sit down at a long table and she still has a hold of my jacket. I try to see why she's so tense, but she just kept staring off. I just continued to talk to Dustin who proudly sat next to me, since he won the match.

The rest of the team followed after, Max sitting down by Chrissy. They whispered something to each other and she let go of my jacket and they walked to the bathroom.

" So how are you guys? Got anything going on yet?" Steve asks grinning. I scoff and roll my eyes.

" Why would I even tell you. Everyone already knows we are dating, duh." I say to him.

I couldn't help but feel a pair of eyes on my back, but I didn't really care. That prison taught me that's normal.

Chrissy and Max came back, Chrissy laughing with her and she smiled to me. I'm glad she feels better. Many had already ordered food and began to eat, so it was only slight murmurs of pre-pubescent voices.

After many ate, they left with one another, it was dwindling down to the more grown up group minus max and Dustin, who found seats next to each other. Billy sat a few seats away, one seat away from Chrissy, doodling on the placemat. Chrissy still seemed off somehow, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

I felt the same burning sensation of eyes on my back and finally got sick of it. I turn around and look at a man who was sitting at the bar sipping on coffee. He looked like a trucker, he seemed like he hadn't shaved in a while nor showered. It was even more annoying when he kept staring, not breaking contact with my eyes.

" You got a problem, sir?" I ask, trying to be as nice as I can. He immediately looked back down at his coffee and Chrissy keeps staring at him. She turns to Billy, her face loosing color.

This is what she said next.

" What color was the man's eyes."

" Green, why?" He says. Chrissy gulps and slightly points to the guy who was at the bar, who is now looking nervous, picking at his fingers as he tries to pay and get out of the diner.

I've never seen someone get up so fast until I met Billy. Billy made maybe three long strides before his hand met the man's shoulder, somehow towering over this man.

" Hey Holly?" Billy calls out, still holding the man's shoulder. I heard a women yell from the back, everyone became anxious. I saw a few tears slip over Chrissy's eyes and she had a chokehold on my hand. " I'm gonna need you to call the police for me."

Everything was silent. Everyone knew what was happening. That man had been the one to hurt Chrissy. The amount of rage in me was immeasurable. I sat there with Chrissy though, knowing she needed me. She wouldn't get up for the hell of it even, I tried. The woman named Holly walks out and sees Billy holding the man.

Just then, the man started moving towards his pocket, and Billy didn't notice, for he was talking to Holly.

" Billy!" Max screamed as the man slices Billy's arm, making him retract his arm in pain. The man shot out of the diner, followed closely by Steve, who wanted to know what the car looked like.

Steve came back into the diner huffing a few minutes after, Chrissy helping Billy stop the bleed as much as she can. She had been studying for this, so she wanted to help. Holly called the police, and got the first aid kit for him.

" I-I I don't know where he went, he disappeared. I'm sorry Chrissy I'm so sorry-"

" Shut up." She says shortly, trying to concentrate, wiping the tears out of her eyes and wrapped the gauze around Billy's right arm. Nobody talked until the Police and ambulance showed up.

Billy was taken to the hospital meaning Max was left with us, and Dustin stayed away from all the commotion. Everyone took reports and we were free to go. Max squeezed between me and Dustin in the back seat, and she was fidgeting. " I don't know what to tell my mom." She whispered.

" I know your mom Max don't worry I'll talk to her about it." Chrissy says shortly.

After the evening, Chrissy stayed with me at my house until her mother showed up on the front steps, the knocking made Chrissy jump. She agreed to go home with her, but it was hard to let her go.
