〰️ Eddie's Pov 〰️

My hands were shaking, my knees bouncing up and down. I was anxious. I knew there was no good reason to be, as it should be one of the best days of my life, but something felt off. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. My worries quickly washed away, as I see the small girl with bouncy strawberry colored hair waving towards me. I give her a big smile and jump from my seat; I haven't seen her for a while. I see my uncle following just behind her, along with her own company.

"Eddie! Oh how I've been waiting to see you! You look fancy, what is this, a graduation?" She talks briefly. My eye catches a small necklace on her neck and I almost feel weak. It was my grandmothers necklace. I smile even more wide when I see my uncle laughing at me from the sidelines. Almost all the to-be graduates are here, and we part ways.

I can't wait to hear Chrissy's speech, after all, she is the star student of the school. The crowd quiets down as the principal starts speaking. Everyone was calm at the moment, something peaceful about the low tones and being together as a class. I see Chrissy pop onto the stage, and someone in the crowd move closer, probably Billy, seeing as a small smiling face of Max followed him.

" Good evening. This speech is something to be proud of, and earned for. I, Chrissy Cunningham, believe that everyone's efforts in creating the best environment for this school. I am proud of all of my peers and hope to see you all succeed no matter the background or what lies underneath. Here's to the class of 86!" She raises her hand and everyone starts clapping.

I see her carefully go down the steps and return to her seat, she's breathtaking. I smile at her as she looks back at me.

Next, is Jason. No matter what he's done, his father paid good money to get him on that stage. " Afternoon, fellow graduates. It's a pleasure to be on this stage tonight giving a speech about being sappy and remembrance. But I'm here to tell you it's about the future, not the past. The class of 86 has taught me many things. To love, to cry, to be grateful for what I had," I saw him look at Chrissy for a moment, which pissed me off. " But most importantly, not to dwell on past troubles. They don't mean a thing once your in the real world. Here's to the class of 86." He throws up a peace sign and exits stage left.

For a guy who almost hit his ex girlfriend for talking to a guy, it seems pretty ballsy to try and look at her.

I could see Chrissy stiffen. She was at a loss for what Jason had said. I see Billy on the sidelines shake his head and look around the crowd. I do the same, waiting for the name to start rolling out. There were many people in the small stadium, it was almost stifling hot already.

Billy must have saw someone, as he told Max to get back in the stands. I was confused, what did he see?

Chrissy's row had just been called, and she was about to go across the stage to get her diploma. I was too busy watching her when I heard some grunting and a woman yelling. Everyone looked horrified as a man with a knife tried to get in through the gates. Why can't we just have a good day? I looked over to where Chrissy was and saw Billy taking her out of sight. It made me anxious not knowing where she was. The security guards outside had detained him, although they were bloody.

Finally, someone had gotten her stalker. I felt relieved that this was finally over. Chrissy was probably bummed her moment at first was ruined. But as soon as she was brought back to the stage; everyone had clapped for her as she was handed the diploma. She had been crying, but she smiled through it. I was whooping for her, yelling incoherent words to her.

After a few rows were called, it was my turn next. I walked up the steps and smiled. " Edward Munson." Was called and I walked across the stage. I shook the principals hand, and made my way across the stage, albeit I did not shake the hand of the one who failed me three times. I smiled into the crowd and Chrissy was copying what I had done before. I smile at her as she laughs.

It was nearing the end of the ceremony, many becoming antsy. It came time to throw out caps, and we did. Everyone ran to pick their own up. Somehow Chrissy had thrown it all the way behind her to find a way to sneak to me. She made her way, dodging all the hugging people. She smiled big and almost ran to me, as I caught her in my arms. " Congratulations, Mr. Munson!" She giggled and nuzzled my chest. I laugh at her and kiss her on top of her head. We release and get out caps, being dismissed from the stadium.

Of course, everyone wanted pictures with the beautiful girl who was my girlfriend and we were separated. But I'm sure I'll see her soon.
