I lost. I'm sorry, my brothers... I lost my fight, my big number against the androids. I thought I had the perfect plan―to get rid of all those advanced freaks―to get that human... but I guess not.

I was silent, sitting with my hands tied behind my back as I listened to the group of androids converse among themselves. They were talking about a variety of things from what they'll do with me to what will happen after all of this. I thought their conversations were interesting as I'd always thought that all they talked about were their missions and whatever else that relates to that.

They had attempted asking me about Eve and his whereabouts, and even if I wanted to tell them, I couldn't. I didn't even know where he was. When I regained complete control over my body and mind once more, I was in the City Ruins and he was nowhere to be found. Not to mention, a part of me didn't want to comply until (Y/n) woke up.

Not like I can get information anymore anyways. They disconnected me.

Yet, I was yanked out of thought was I felt something tug on the corners of my mind. It was a connection that was all too familiar to me.

Wait a minute.

After a few moments, I reconnected to that connection and I saw something that I didn't think I could. It was a video of Eve, standing on top of a building that overlooked the City Ruins―but it wasn't the one we called our home, just some random high-rise. As for Eve, he looked different―half of him was coloured black as corruption eroded his body and his eyes no longer showed his gentleness as it was taken over by his insanity. The video rolled for a few moments so I could take in the state of the ruins before he spoke words only I could hear.

"My dear Luciel, the time of revenge has come for our beloved brother! And, even if you failed your hunt, you gifted me with a beautiful opening stage. Once this is all over... both of us can live in peace and continue on Adam's legacy. Rest now, my precious little brother, let me handle this all with our strength combined."

Evie...

Soon, I felt weaker than I was as the realization of my brother's words hit me. He wanted to use my power and, at first, I didn't want to stop him but then I heard a voice. The voice of the human I've been waiting for to awaken. I was presented with a choice... give Eve my power or go against Eve and help the androids―help (Y/n).

Without thinking, I hurled myself up and made a b-line for (Y/n) causing the black-haired female to call after me. When I got to the human, my legs gave out from the power drain and I fell next to her.

Eve, I love you. But, I can't let you use my power.

I felt everyone's eyes on me as I stared at the ground, as I disconnect myself from the Network. Give or take a few moments, I finally glanced up and into the eyes of (Y/n) as she took a bit to give me the question that they wanted answers to earlier.

"Luciel, where is Eve?"

"He's in the City Ruins, atop one of the high-rises. However... once he sets his mind to something, there's no stopping him," I spoke, "He's dead set on revenging Adam."

Not even a second later, the androids' pods went off with the cursed transmission, "Attention all YoRHa units, the machine lifeform, known as 'Eve', has launched an all-out attack. Immediate assistance is required. All active units, report to the City Ruins immediately."

I'm sorry, Eve... Adam. I want to fight for our future but... I don't see one anymore. Perhaps, we should've just settled our differences with the androids. We aren't all that dissimilar anyways. And you know, just as well as I, that humans don't exist―not anymore at least. (Y/n) is just a miracle. Yet once she's gone, it's just a world of metal and wires and ruins of humanity.

I watched as the androids started about, giving out orders and following them like it would be the last they'll ever hear. I felt my metal heart sink at the thought that this would be my brother's final imprint on the world as I knew it was too late.

As for me? I'm not sure what they plan on doing with me. All I know is that I'm a coward and I don't deserve to be here―I don't deserve to be the last one standing out of the three of us.
