"How many times are we going to have this conversation ?"
Myungshi and Munghee have been married for almost six years now, but it has been only a year since they moved out of the family home.
They got married as soon as they turned eighteen, which they found too soon to be on their own.
But now that they were both twenty-four, had a home and were more mature, another discussion came on the table : children.
In short, Myungshi wanted children, so much he might as well call it his life goal.
But Myunghee didn't want children, Myungshi didn't even know why.
The problem was that in their marriage of conveniance -that they put upon themselves-, divorce wasn't an option.
Myungshi loved her, he really did, but he also loved the idea of having his children so naturally, this topic was always the center of their arguments.
"This is why we don't solve anything, you don't want to even try to find a solution." Myungshi said, crossing his arms against his chest.
"What solution is there ? I don't want kids, point, blank, period." She argued.
"You don't even want to let me know the reason why ! I don't want to change your mind, I just wanna know why you don't want to."
"Which again, won't change anything, what solution are you even talking about ?"
He took a deep breath, looking away.
He had an idea, but he needed to brace himself for the screaming that would ensue.
"I mean.. I could have children with someone else."
"Pardon ?"
He sighed, throwing his head back on the couch.
"Are you out of fucking mind ?! Why would anyone ever accept this ?!" She quickly raised her voice.
"You know what this means to me Myunghee, come on now.." He tried to calm her down, only causing her to loudly scoff.
"You're asking too much of me ! Can't you just be happy with me ?!" She ignored him, continuing to argue.
"I am happy with you but you know I've always wanted children somewhere along the line, don't act like you didn't know."
She stayed silent, leaning back against a wall as she checked her nails, taking everything in her to not completely lose it.
He was right about that, she always knew it, but it didn't mean that the ends he would go to to have children hurt any less.
"It's not that I don't love you or that I don't want to be with you anymore, I just want children Myunghee." He calmly explained. "I won't have sex with someone else, we can proceed by insimination and I won't ask you to take care of any kids or be involved, I just want to have mini-me's."
She took a deep breath, slowly closing her eyes as she tried to calm herself down.
No one was right nor wrong in the situation.
Children was an important thing that was supposed to be discussed before marriage, but for the two teenagers they were back then who only thought about protecting their parents, that had never occurred.
So they were stuck.
Myunghee had every right to not want children just like Myungshi had every reason to want children.
