Kabanata 15
>>Cara POV<<
I made my way down fast. My heart is pounding with trepidation. I had to tell them that the book I was holding would take us back to the present. I can't wait to come back again.
I didn't realize because of the speed of my step that I bumped into someone when I turned towards the living room. Exodus sat down while holding his forehead. I also hit my forehead because we bumped into each other. He stood up quickly while shaking his clothes. I looked at him angrily.
"Pasensiya na nagmamadali ako," I know it was rude but I quickly turned my back on him and made my way out.
I looked for my sisters among many people. I quickly saw Clarity talking to the man who often teased her. I was about to go there nang makasalubong ko si Don Mario.
"Bakit anak? Ikaw ay balisa, bakit?" I smiled a few times even though it's not my habit. .
I'm not good at lying.
"Kumain ka na ba? Bakit hindi ka sumali sa ibang mga binibini na nagkakasiyahan. Huwag kang mahihiya makihalubilo sa karamihan, anak. Masayang makipag-usap, sulitin mo ang iyong kabataan huwag puro papel at pluma ang iyong hawak."
He stroked my head and smiled at me. I followed him until he mingled with his old friends again. I gasped. I don't know when was the last time I talked to Daddy James like that. I will admit that I became close to Don Mario even though the truth is that he is not our real father. I appreciate his fatherly nature, his buying me paper, ink, clothes and painting supplies.
I realized my own approach to them. Don Mario had his back to me so he didn't know I was behind him. The people he was talking to looked at me.
"Oh amigo," his companions patted him and pointed at me. He turned in surprise until he saw me. A smile appeared on his lips as he faced me.
"Oh bakit anak—?" I was no longer ashamed to hug him. I am thankful for his goodness to us. And a true father's love. I described him as a good father. Because at the time I was writing this story, I was longing for the presence of a father. I also wanted to feel how parents should take care of children that should be ordinary.
We are rich, they give us everything we want. Delicious food, nice toys, expensive clothes, shoes, oh no matter how much money we ask for they give.
But it's true that no matter what is in the world, it can't match the happiness and love of a person. Even though mommy and daddy often give us a welcome gifts, it's still not enough.
It's still more fun if we always have them with us. They rarely go home, five, four or even three a year. When they come it only lasts for two weeks. That was the longest.
So, the truth that they can't blame us for being closer to Nanay Hilda. I once saw mommy cry because she was jealous of Nay Hilda. Nanay will just kiss her and settle her down.
Sometimes it crossed my mind, I wish our lives were simple. Not rich.
I hope we are just like Lola Grasya's life in her time. Mommy is her daughter. Life is hard but they have a happy life. Lived in a small hut with one room. Sleeping side by side with eight children, together with Lolo Timoteo who works as a farmer. Mommy is the youngest of the siblings, the only one who married a rich man—let's just say she married a billionaire, Daddy James. 24 yrs old when he met mommy who was only 16 yrs old.
Mommy's seven siblings had a good life because of Daddy's help. Before lolo Timoteo passed away, they also built a mansion exclusively for lolo and lola. In the province of San Roque.
"M-magandang gabi po.... Ama. Matutulog na po ako," I shyly said. I heard the giggles of the dons and doñas because they heard me what I said. I was pretty shy! This is not usually me!
"Napaka-lambing naman ng iyong bunsong anak, Mario," kumento ng isang Don. I think he is Don Yno, father of Exodus, next to him is his wife Doña Esther who is smiling very expensive.
"M-magandang gabi rin ho sa inyo," pagbati ko rin sa kanila. I bowed before completely leaving in front of them.
I closed my eyes, it was the first time I did that. It's scary but it feels good.
I simply pulled Clar when I passed her. He was surprised when I suddenly pulled her but she didn't move.
"Gosh! Nag-uusap kami ni Genesis!" Reklamo nito at gustong kumawala sa pag hawak ko sa kaniya, binalak pang lumingon doon sa lalaki na nagtatakang nakatingin sa amin.
I strictly pulled her again, finally I win. "Clarita, I have something—important to discuss to you," mahinag bulong ko.
"Anong Clarita? Its Clarity! And FYI I am older than you. Call me ate, isusumbong kita kay ate Flory," pinaikutan ko rin siya ng mata at muli siyang hinila.
"Did you see them? We need to find them, asap!"
"I don't know, bakit ba kasi?"
"We can go back to our present life now," nang sabihin ko iyon biglang natigilan si Clarity. I know, nasanay na siya sa panahong ito.
"Anong ibig mong sabihin?"
"Nag-aaway ba kayong dalawa?" Nakapamewang na tanong nito.
"Where's ate Flory?" I quickly ask. Hindi sinagot ang tanong niya. It's nonsense.
"Ate Flory!" But I heard Clarity scream.
When it got close I quickly told them everything. We run up the stairs. Some maids we met turned to us. But we have no time to mind them.
When we opened the door to my room, the mysterious book was revealed to us. Nagliliwanag ito, sinuman ang makakakita ay magugulat.
"Shock! Uuwi na talaga tayo?
"Ohmyoppa! Makikita ko na ulit si Eunwoo baby!"
"Payneta ka Clarita! Naapakan mo paa ko!"
"Are you ready now?" They looked at me when I spoke suddenly, we looked at each other until they slowly nodded.
Without hesitation I put my hand to the book. I felt them holding my hand.
My eyes rolled, I felt dizzy like when we first entered the book.
Finally, we can go home!
I can't wait to see the present time surrounding. But I admitted I love this old life.
