Chuck and Rachel were talking about Diana, Elizabeth, and Jack. Some of Diana story didn't add up and Rachel know something is missing. Both Elizabeth and Diana have something in common and it is Jack Bass.
"Diana can't be your mother." Rachel said.
"Rachel take a look at this picture of Elizabeth." Chuck said.
Chuck hand Rachel the picture of Elizabeth when she was pregnant with Chuck. Rachel notices the tattoo on the arm in the picture and the arm belong to Jack Bass. Chuck thinks Jack is his real father. Chuck asked Nate to pay Diana a visit in her hotel room. They need her day planner to found out the truth. Nate went to Diana and two hours later, Nate return with Diana's day planner. Chuck looks through the day planner and one problem is everything is in code.
The next day, Chuck asked Rachel for help decoding the day planner and Rachel agreed to help.
"I will help decode the day planner for you. Chuck, I need you to take me to my penthouse for me to get something to decode the planner." Rachel said.
Chuck and Rachel left to go to her place to get the thing she needs. Rachel arrived at her place and went into her bedroom to get her cipher slide in her desk drawer. Rachel and Chuck left the penthouse to go back to the Empire. Rachel and Chuck arrived at Chuck's penthouse and Serena, Nate, and Lola were waiting for them. Rachel and Chuck went into his bedroom before heading to the three of them. Rachel got the cipher slider and Diana's day planner out of her bag.
"It's definitely not classic Caesar." Rachel said.
"What is that?" Chuck asked.
"A cipher slider. When I was younger, I thought my mother was reading my diary and I had to code my diary." Rachel said.
"Can you break it?" Chuck asked.
"Let me look." Rachel said. Rachel started looking through the pages.
"Look. Every first Saturday of the month at 9pm. There's an appointment made up of 14 or 15 letters." Rachel said looking at the pages in the day planner.
"They seem to be different but if you crack those you can crack the rest of the book. Nate has to know something about these Saturday during the time he dated her." Rachel said.
"Genius." Chuck said to Rachel with a big smile.
Chuck and Rachel went out of his room and head to the three of them on the couch.
"Looks like we might have a lead thanks to Rachel's power of observation." Chuck said.
"Unfortunately, the clue trail hangs by the flimsiest of threads... Nate's long-term memory." Rachel said jokingly.
"Excuse me." Rachel said grabbing her phone to answer the call.
"Hello." Rachel answered the call walking into the kitchen away from the group. Blair called Rachel for advice on Dan and the Rome situation.
"B, that is amazing. Dan wants to be with you over the summer in Rome. You should go with him because your relationship is in a good place. Look, Blair I need to go. I am helping Chuck, Nate, Serena, and Lola with something important." Rachel said ending the called-on Blair.
"Sorry, it was Blair. Let me see the book again." Rachel said reaching for the book in her bag.
"Oh my God. It's gone."
"Serena" Lola said heading for the elevator. Before the elevator door closed, Lola stops the door and Serena from leaving with the book.
"Why would you go behind our back and steal the book?" Chuck asked while Serena exiting the elevator.
"Diana told me if I got her book back that she would give me Gossip Girl's real phone number." Serena revealed. "That's more important to me than kicking Diana out of the Spectator."
"More important than me finding my father?" Chuck asked.
"What?"
"Diana lied to me. She's not my mother. And I think she's covering for my father - well, my real father Jack." Chuck explained.
"Oh, Chuck I'm so sorry. I didn't know." Serena said.
"That book is the only chance I have at tracking Jack down."
"Well, what can I do?" Serena asked.
"Be with us. Not against us." Rachel spoke out.
"You have me 100%." Serena said handing the book back to Rachel.
Rachel looked through it again.
"She has a massage appointment today. Nate do you have her assistant's number?" Rachel asked. Nate gave her the number and Rachel called from her phone.
"Hi, this is Maddie from the massage place. I see Ms. Payne has an appointment today. I was going through the files and noticed you had booked an appointment last month on the first Saturday but never showed. My manager is going to charge the card on file. We just want to approve the charge with you." Rachel explained.
"No, that's incorrect Ms. Payne was in Portugal that weekend." the assistant revealed.
"Ok then. That appointment won't be charged." Rachel said before ending the call.
"What do we know about Portugal?" Rachel asked grabbing her slide.
"They speak Portuguese?" Serena asked.
"They play good football?" Nate commented.
"No, they don't" Chuck commented back with a smirk on his face.
"What if these letters are just different international phone numbers?" Rachel asked examining the numbers in the book. "The code for that night was K-L-L."
"Which is 5-5-5 on the keypad and we all know from watching movies that's fake." Nate said.
"If she's using a numeric key, it can be decoded as 0-0-1 and then 3-5-1."
"That's country code for Portugal" Chuck said. Everyone exchanged a look of shock that Rachel has cracked the code.
Rachel put the number on her phone and hand it to Chuck for the event tonight. Chuck put the call on speaker for everyone to listen.
"How can I help you?" Woman asked.
"Yes, I'm interest in the event tonight." Chuck said.
"Yes, how many?" Woman asked.
Rachel and Nate raised their hand while Serena sat this out.
"Three."
"Three, it is. Do I need to send a car?"
"No, the address will be just fine."
"The Vardin House in Briarcliff Manor. See you at 9 o'clock" Woman informed before disconnecting.
"I'll get Arthur to pull the car around" Nate said jumping up from his seat.
"Here's the book." Rachel said handing it over to Serena. Serena weakly smiled back before exiting without saying much. Rachel changed really quick.
"You ready?" Chuck asked.
Rachel shook her head grabbing her purse and following Nate and Chuck into the limo.
