CHAPTER 26

December 1985, Rosie Langston, president of the newspaper club

Rosie here, today we are sadly reporting the death of our friend Amber Longstone, a beautiful girl with a very kind heart. She was a friend of us all and she was very much loved by everyone, we are grieving together and remembering her by we will be filling the notice board with pictures of her and any memories any of you can add, so, therefore, please help us remember her this way.

At this point I didn't even know what I was still doing in school, my effort in class was minimum and there was no one that actually wanted to talk with me. The past rumors were still circulating and there was no point in trying to restore my reputation so I just let it be. I was in the middle of taking a nap when Rosie's high-pitched voice rang in my ears, she was announcing how the school was going to grieve Amber and remember her, but I had enough with my own guilt and grief, and I wouldn't ever forget Amber.

The newspaper club was notorious for posting rumors and gossip from anonymous tips that were either false or very exaggerated, so barely anyone bothered to read it, after all the club had to post weekly to meet the school's requirements to keep the club formed. As soon as the bell rang I chose to have a look at the newspaper to distract my mind for a moment with shallow words, but what I found was two long lines to either class 4d or the newspaper's club room, so something interesting must have happened to cause such a sudden interest. As I approached the line I felt almost a thousand eyes on me, watching me with the utmost hatred. After almost 20 minutes I finally got to grab a newspaper for myself, but the headline was not what I expected it to be.

The truth behind Amber Longstone's death

As you all know we have received the awful news of Amber's death, but are we sure her death was only food poisoning? An anonymous tip has told us the truth behind this tragic event to tell the truth to everyone.

Amber was a friend of ours all but she was most fond of Lynx, a rumored lesbian that was one of her closest friends after her boyfriend, Jack. Well, we have unveiled the jealousy that caused Lynx to poison her best friend because she couldn't date her, so she decided no one could have her. The evil plan started at her very malicious mind in an attack of rage towards Jack that sent him to the hospital and injure him gravely, this freak took the chance of the visit to the hospital to add rat poison to Amber's cup of tea and maliciously added sleeping pills into Jack's prescription, he almost instantly passed out and our poor Amber fell to the floor vomiting and eventually, dying...

I could not read any more of the bullshit that was this article and newspaper, so I immediately threw it into the nearest trash can and walked away from the prying eyes that were still staring at me.
