CHAPTER 35

Amber

The class groans as Mrs. Anniston assigns yet again another research lab report, the woman is a senior woman who .although she is of retiring age, keeps giving biology classes to college students. Amber gathers her things as she looks at her teacher and at her identical granddaughter; the only thing setting them apart is that the older woman has lost the vibrant red hair, her grandaughter, Jeanette has.

Amber puts her computer in her bag as she carries a folder in her arm, heads outside to get inside her car, and drives to her shared dorm. The old wooden door creaks as Amber walks into her dorm, she leaves her stuff on the floor and looks at the boarding ticket for a plane she has in an hour to visit her grandma, she's using her two-week break wisely to spend time with her grandma.

Grandma!, Amber says as she hugs her grandma, Emily, tightly showing just how much she missed her. The two women talk for a few minutes until they decide to grab a cup of coffee together to continue their conversation with sweets and caffeine.

Amber: You cannot believe how much of a preference Mrs. Anniston gives to her granddaughter, it's infuriating seriously

Emily: I would do just the same if I were your teacher sweetheart, I'm still glad you keep working hard, you'll make a great doctor one day

Amber: I've got a few more years to go but ill work even harder now

Emily: Im cheering you on, ill try traveling to Washington next time to visit college yeah?

Amber: That be lovely Grandma, id be happy to show you around

Lynx

How amazing it is to find a coffee shop just when you're thirsty huh? this my dear reader is why conveniently small towns are so nice to visit, just everything you need is less than a mile away from you. However, my happiness ended when the coffee shop was completely packed with people, but this wasn't gonna stop me, so with a flick of my wrist a couple left feeling rather sick, as I sat down at a table and waited patiently for someone to take my order. The coffee was extremely sweet and plain, but it was enough to provide energy.

As I walked through the doors to leave the coffee shop, I found a familiarly looking brunette young woman that almost sparkled, that woman was no one but Amber herself and her almond eyes shined with happiness as she talked to Emily, I couldn't help but stare at the two as I walked outside, but bumped into a table loudly and got all eyes on me.

Well hello there ladies, I said confidently as I hid the utter embarrassment I felt at the moment, as I sat down on a spare chair at the table where Emily and Amber were.

Lynx: Long time no see Amber you look astonishing

Amber: You look well too Lynx, I see you've embraced the natural hair.

Lynx: It looks better and it's much easier to maintain, how's that medical degree going hun? getting any closer to saving the world?

Amber: Im getting there, it's hard though but I think I'll make it.

Lynx: With effort, anyone can do great things, hun, give it time and I'm sure you will be an amazing doctor.

We continued talking about our lives and, I told Amber about my plans of moving away to Europe, Emily shared her advice and was surprisingly friendly to me, we three had a long talk about simple things and complex things, the coffee shop owner was practically glaring at the three of us and we had to leave the shop so they could close up and eventually parted ways with smiles on each of our faces, but a new surprise was waiting for me when the familiar white Mercedes stopped a few meters nearby and a blue-haired man who was weird enough to wear glasses at night grinned at me in the same way I did and I practically hopped on to my father's car and we drove away with matching smiles.
