Lynx:

Prom night was something that I had waited for with a lot of excitement, but now, I was not looking forward to going to prom. On the day of the event, I would have slept the whole day away if it wasn't for the sudden tapping on my shoulder, my eyes opened to see my father standing over me with a dress on a hanger in his hand, my barely awake self took a moment to realize what was happening, the alarm clock had the time 7:30 pm and the dress was very fancy, almost like for prom... I let out an annoyed groan as I forced myself to wake up and sit down, now that I was actually awake, I noticed a tray of food on my dresser and my father being a nice guy handed me it as he asked if I need anything else, I said I was fine and he quietly closed the door behind him.

The bubble bath was very relaxing and comforting, I was not ready to face prom and all of my classmate's prying eyes on me, I knew pretty well that not going to prom was not the right move, the consequence would be to graduate as the sad girl who lost her best friend and crush, and that wasn't how I wanted to be remembered. I was to keep my head up and be the careless girl and confident girl Amber befriended and admired because I wasn't really feeling up to it my dad was kind enough to help me with my makeup and curled my hair, he helped me zip up and finish my prom look. As for the look, I had a ruffled flowy black dress with poofy short sleeves, the dress was up to my ankles and had tiny crystals that went from more to less from the chest to the very bottom of the skirt, and the shoes were simple black flats, my hair was curled and brushed out and after a final checkup of my look, I headed towards prom.

Jack:

I was one of the first people to arrive at prom since I had no date to pick up and I had no friends to accompany me, what had kept me going the last days was overthinking Amber's death over and over, the only thing she had truly eaten was Lynx's food and there was no way she would ever poison her best friend, or would she?. Sure Lynx was very shallow and cold, merciless when mad and a narcissist, but she was no murderer as far as I knew her to be, although I barely even knew her. Lynx barely mentioned her life, I had only ever seen her dad once in the funeral and she barely spoke of her personal life, just chit-chat about parties, but nothing truly personal. As far as I knew she lived in a rich neighborhood with traveling parents, I knew she loved sweets and doing adrenaline-inducing activities, but she was very reserved about her personal life and practically refused to say anything about it. I was cut out from my analysis when the music that had been faint suddenly turned up and I was surrounded by a swarm of people.

Lynx:

Music had allowed me to let go of my worries for a short moment until it was cut short for the announcement of the prom king and queen. I was surprised to hear my name and Jack's, as we came to the stage I noticed the faint sadness in Jack's eyes, I knew he would have loved to see Amber standing next to him rather than me and it was a mutual desire, we both smiled and awkwardly stood there while the plastic crowns were placed on our heads, after the coronation the music turned up again and I kept dancing the night off.

Jack:

The night was almost ending and my suspicions about Lynx were just getting even more real, she was not only acting as if nothing happened, but she also had chosen to look even more ridiculous with now fully pink hair with barely any of her natural blond hair in it, there was just no way she was that reserved that instead of showing her grief at least a little bit, she was not showing it at all. A person like that, with that mindset, could definitely do something extreme to their best friend, and I was determined to prove that.
