✘IT WASNT UNUSUAL FOR ALANA to wake up late after a night out, but what was unusual was the fact she felt horrible, and it wasn't from the alcohol the previous night.
She had been tossing and turning all night, her mind tracing over every conversation she had. The first conversation with Billy. His once sweet persona turning sour. His somewhat ominous goodbye sentence. I mean, it was obvious to her that she was going to see Billy tomorrow, but it will be no where near a friendly conversation.
But the thing that played on her mind the most was her last conversation with Steve. The girl had thought of every possible outcome of their conversation. If she had said yes, if she didn't answer, if she just told him to fuck himself. Her feelings felt like they had been chucked on the fastest rollercoaster in the world, having twists and turns, but always ending up in the place she started.
She eventually slummed herself out of bed, taming her messy hair and chucking on some random clothes off her floor. Saying a quick goodbye to Eleven, she drove to school in what felt like and agonisingly slow pace, giving her even more time to overthink every little situation from last night.
She eventually made it to school, managing to hide herself in the back of the classroom to sneak some sleep in. It didn't work though. It was as if her mind could not stop running, telling her what she should and shouldn't of said. It felt like her life-form was draining.
"Hey, Alana? You ok?" Nancy called from beside her, staring at her friend with utter concern. The sight of her friend pulled her back into reality slightly, reminding her that nothing she could have said would have changed anything; he was in a relationship.
"Yeah, just no sleep last night." She muttered, rubbing her eyes with her hands in attempts to release the built up tension. The bell rung, causing Alana to squint slightly from how loud it was. She grabbed her bags, exiting with Nancy and Jonathan. Just as she was about to start talking to Jonathan, a piece of orange paper was shoved between her hands.
"Hope to see you there Alana! Nancy, you want one too?" Heather asked Nancy. She quickly nodded, Alana asking for one more invitation incase she 'lost it'.
She quickly shoved the spare invitation in Jonathans hand. He laughed, shaking his head at the girl.
"No way." He cringed as he read the letter, a uncomfortable smile forming on his face.
"Oh come on Jonathan. You haven't been to one in ages! What am I supposed to do without you!" Alana whined, throwing her hands up in the air in annoyance.
"Alana's right! It will be fun. You should definitely come. I mean we can't let you sit all alone on Halloween, its not acceptable." Nancy supported, the three walking down the hallway.
"Well you two can relax. I won't be alone. I'm going trick or treating with Will." Jonathan told the two, causing Alana to groan.
"No your not. See Joyce loves me, If I ask if you can come with me instead she will definitely say yes." Alana pointed her finger into the boys chest, causing him to laugh.
"Besides you'll probably be home at 8:00, and listen to all your precious little mixtapes you have lying around." Nancy reiterated, making Alana smile at the twos refusal to step down.
"Sounds like a nice night." Jonathan smiled cheekily, making Alana huff with defeat.
"Jonathan, just come. Who knows, you two could like, meet someone." Nancy began but shrieked as she was pulled up by someone. Alana instantly recognised the blue jacket, her face falling slightly at the sight. They were so happy together, why couldn't she be like that?
