∙ Madis POV ∙

I barely managed to look at Nyx the next morning and also during the day that followed it was tricky—the towel incident always appeared in my mind.

But that day, that very day, everything was different. I would finally see Aesa and Geavin again. It had been over three weeks, but it was finally time that I would see them again.

A letter had been sent to them and we arranged a meeting in the forest between the Mortal Lands and the Spring Court. It was cold here in the Night Court, but I had no idea if the temperature would be any different in the Mortal Lands. I did not care, did not allow myself to care, I was solely looking forward to seeing Aesa and Geavin.

I jumped down the stairs, nearly flying through the corridors with a broad smile on my face and nearly slammed into Mor who stepped into the house the same moment I landed on the bottom of the staircase. She grinned brightly, her eyes glowing.

"The reason for this smile is either a boy or that we go to the Mortal Lands?" she hummed and I grinned at her. "The second option," I told her and she winked.

"Of course..." she teased, but I shook my head at her, smiling. I had really started to like her. She was funny and kind. I also liked her partner, she was nice, too and calmer. Emerie.

Anticipation bubbled inside of me when I wrapped myself into my warm winter coat and donned a scarf and hat. Stepping from foot to foot I waited for the arrival of the others.

"Are we good to go?" Rhysand asked when he finally stepped into the entry hall. I nodded eagerly, my eyes probably lighting up with the thought of finally seeing my friends—my family.

"How does it actually work. The darkness and the mist and then suddenly you are in another place? This window—ugh, winnow-thingy?" I asked curiously, approaching the High Lord who had already extended his hand.
Nyx moved closer to me, donning a warm, dark blue winter coat that reached nearly down to his knees. "Winnowing. Fairy magic as you like to call it. It is just magic that transports you from one place to another."

"Ah," I stated, once again perplexed and flabbergasted. Rhysand extended his hand and Feyre linked arms with him. Mor did the same with Nesta and Cassian. This left Noora and me with Nyx. Amazing. We took our places on both of his sides and also linked arms with him.

He smirked, "Ladies," to which Noora rolled her eyes at him. I calmly cursed him under my breath, pushing every thought of the other evening where I had seen to much of him away. I tried at least. He was an idiot. A hot idiot. But still an idiot.

"I hope you had nice dreams after your late night interruption the other day?" Nyx's lips nearly touched my ear with his whispered words.

Startled, I turned to him and gave him a death pan. "You wish," I brought out and quickly averted my gaze. He chuckled lowly which made me roll my eyes.

And then I took one last, deep breath and the darkness swirled around us. Once I opened my eyes we were in the forest between the Mortal Lands and the Spring Court. A small coat of snow covered the landscape and I smiled to myself. The Mortal Lands. I had not so many good memories of this place but  the ones that were good were the most important in my life.

"All right. We'll leave you here. The meeting will probably take a few hours. Let's arrange that Nyx will pick you up here in around four hours?" Rhysand queried and I nodded, eagerly. "Nyx will walk you over there, so that you are protected as long as you are in the Spring Court, after it you will be alone."

I nodded again, thanking them around ten times. "Good. I will be right back and join you inside," Nyx told his parents upon parting ways.

"Have a good time and enjoy your day!" Noora shouted at me before she turned around. Smiling genuinely, I bowed my head and turned around as well.
"You don't have to walk me over there. I am fine. I have been here as...mortal, so please, you can go join them," I quickly told Nyx, but he shook his head. "No, it is just a few minutes," he answered. I knew that once we were alone there would be an uncomfortable tension between us, but I was not the one to blame. Was I?
