Madis POV
It was Lord Kattor himself who picked me up from somewhere in between the trees. I had slumped down against a tree hours ago, the wound on my head bleeding and blood dripping down. But I had survived. The Blood Rite was over, the sun started to rise.
"Although you are quite a feisty little thing I already knew this during our very first meeting that you are an outstanding female. There is something about you that ignites a fire in males. If you weren't with the High Lord's son I would honestly try to woo you myself. Not only are you incredibly beautiful but also powerful and skilled," he stated, a smirk plastering his face, and approached me with large steps.
I lifted my gaze. "Spare me with this shit, unless you want to apologise."
"I apologise, lovely lady Madis. For putting you in here, but rules are rules. You passed the obstacle course and qualified. And look, you made it. You became Oristian. The only one apparently this year. Three Carythians returned just a few hours ago and the rest Arktosian," he said and helped me stand on my feet.
"Broken?" he asked, pointing towards my swollen ankle. I shook my head, steadying myself on his arm before his arm reached under my legs and he scooped me up.
"Torn I think," I breathed, slinging my arms around his neck while he flared his wings behind him and took off.
"You have to have a healer look at it."
"Don't fake kindness. All I have to do now is see my mate," I told him and tipped my head back to let the sun fall onto my skin. He chuckled, his shoulders shaking while he flew us over Ramiel and I took a glance over the whole area. "I wonder how it is possible to hate someone so much but also find them incredibly hot at the same time."
I now had to chuckle. Poor male.
"Look how far you got. No idea how you did it, but look how far you got. You even made it to Ramiel. Alone!"
"I wasn't alone!" I argued, my brows furrowed. "I was with.....Loi. Loi is an amazing male and I swear if I ever hear again that you bully him I will blow up Windhaven," I told the war lord, not lifting my gaze from Ramiel.
"I have no doubt you will do this," he stated, matter-of-fact. "He won. Alongside two others. And I promise that we won't bully him anymore. Maybe I will give him a higher rank, would that please you?"
My whole body was sore and aching, but I was filled with a rush of happiness when I heard that he made it. I grinned about the fact that Loi had actually won and I turned to Lord Kator. "That would please me a lot. Do it immediately if possible."
We landed in Windhaven which was rather calm that morning and the war lord placed me on the ground, still holding onto me.
"There he is." I spun around and Loi was already running towards me. He grinned and shouted my name and then I was scooped up in his arms.
"Madis!" he shouted again and swirled me around. "Fuck. You made it out. I regretted every minute that I left you alone. I should not have done. But you made it. Oristian. I got Carynthian, can you believe it? I made it. But I wouldn't have made it without you. I wouldn't be here without you. I owe you my life, tiny fighter!" he expressed, finally putting me on the ground again.
"And now...now I get my girl!"
"I am so happy for you and yes, do that! Good luck!" I told him when he was already leaving.
"Happy bond acceptance!" And with that he stormed off. I grinned after him, feeling so very proud and happy.
Lord Kator grabbed me by my wrist. "Come on, they are waiting for you already."
They were here. Gods, they came here for me. Excitement and anticipation bubbled inside of me especially since I hadn't forgotten what special day it was that day. What special day for Nyx.
