∙ Madis POV ∙
"Why not?"
"Because— Nyx stop tha—gods! Stop that!" I smacked the prince of the Night Court's shoulder, opening my mouth to rebuke him again when I was interrupted.
"Not on the kitchen table, other people eat here." I shrieked slightly and shoved Nyx, who was standing between my thighs, backwards.
I could hear loud laughter and a moment later Cassian stalked into the room, followed by Nesta and their daughter.
"You could have knocked," Nyx grumbled, pushing himself of my thighs and spinning around, his wings nearly brushing my face. Wings.
They once again looked so soft and velvety and inviting—inviting for me to touch them.
"Princeling, just because you are the High Lord's son you don't have special rules. Dining table is dining table and just there for dining." A snort escaped Nesta's lips.
Colour bloomed in my cheeks when I slowly moved my finger forward, poking Nyx's wing.
A yelp left him and he turned his head to look at me over his shoulder. "Holy gods, no. No. No. No touching the wings!"
My eyes went wide and I stared at Nyx. His face was flushed and he looked like he was going to jump out of his skin any moment. His family started cackling, Noora even bending over with laughter.
I had no idea if I had just made a huge mistake. I probably had...but I had only poked his wing.
"Sorry." I gritted my teeth.
"Don't be. I'll explain to you later why you should not touch them. Or at least not where you have just touched them. Just don't do it again, alright Starlight? Or actually just not when we are not alone..."
"Aw, Starlight. He truly is Rhysand's son, huh?" Nesta cooed, shuffling towards the table. "And talking about the High Lord. Is my sister still in the sheets with your father?"
Nyx blinked for a long moment. "So tactful, aunt, you— ah there they are. See!"
"Morning, what is going on in here already? So many noises and so much talking so early in the morning."
I chuckled and crinkled my nose at the High Lord who waddled through the door. Nesta might not have been wrong, Feyre's flushed face and the ruffled hair had definitely given her away. She stepped into the room and a loud yawn left her. I grinned at her when she met my gaze. A blush appeared on her cheeks and she quickly turned away and shooed her daughter, who had also stepped into the room by then, to the table."Cousin, I will borrow your girl today. Need someone to talk to," Noora declared when High Lord and Lady had sat down.
I happily clapped my hands, earning myself an eye roll from Nyx and then he shrugged one shoulder.
"Cousin, you have her all the time. I need her now. Can we leave already? Breakfast at the House of Wind?"
"Ooh, yes. I always wanted to see that house. Only if that is alright, of course?" I mumbled, turning to where Nesta and Cassian stood. Nesta gave me a warm smile and nodded.
"Sure, sure, if my daughter rather shares her personal things with you than with her father, it is totally fine." Faking pain, Cassian folded a hand over his chest and sighed dramatically. It drew a loud laugh from me and I pouted at him for a moment.
"Ugh, father, don't be embarrassing. But perfect, Madis come on. Time for flying with the best flyer the Illyrians have ever seen: me!" Noora declared and extended her hand to me. I quickly grabbed it.
"Cannot deny that!" I told her and squeezed her hand. I really could not, she was a great flyer.
"Hah, you heard that cousin? You girl likes my flying skills better than yours, I would be highly...frustrated hearing such things."
