The day was cool, a bit too cool in fact for Xelqua. With the wind blowing through his feathers and seeping into his bones, he couldn't help but shiver. When they had set out that morning, they had opted to take to the sky to avoid having to navigate terrain and mobs.At first, Miesall had decided to fly as fast as he could, prompting Xelqua to do the same. The blonde had a hard time keeping pace, even when he could tell the other had slowed down for him. Slowly but surely they both had decreased their speed into a much more comfortable pace. It was still faster than boating, that was sure.
Xelqua watched as the world went by. They would pass biomes in almost no time at all, one after the other. It had all started looking the same after awhile, or at least that's what he would have expected by now.
It seemed to him that the more he stared at the ever changing the landscape, the more intrigued by it he was. He noticed caves, trees, ice, mountains, valleys, rivers, ravines, waters with treasures unknown.
There was something inside of him pulling on him, beckoning him to draw nearer to them; to explore them all like he had done so long ago. He remembered just how fun it was just to go on an adventure. Even when he didn't need supplies, it was exciting to see what the world had in store for them every single time.
It was especially fun with his friends. They'd go along, telling stories, singing silly songs they made up and overall joking around about everything. A few times they had even put on costumes and pretended to be things they were not just to change things up.
His smile faded as he remembered that even now, back in the worlds, he could never do that again.
Miesall had remained mostly silent throughout this journey, but noticing Xelqua's smile disappear caused him to move his head over towards the other.
He found, to his surprise, that his wings had overtime become heavy, almost as if they had drenched several times over and kept in all the water. He wondered if Xelqua had the same thing, and that was why he was no longer smiling.
'We've been flying for hours now. Maybe we should take a break.' Xel signed at last, knowing his words would have likely been taken by the wind. He could keep going for awhile, but he thought doing something else would help him get his mind off his friends again.
'We can land, but we are not taking a break. We must be close, surely.' The other replied, taking out the compass once more. How could they not be? They must have travelled thousands upon thousands of blocks at this point. Alas, the compass still pointed the same direction.
After Xelqua agreed, the two landed down in a valley. Flowers scattered the area, and a few animals roamed around aimlessly. Not stopping to take in the scenery, Miesall began walking even before he fully tucked his wings in.
The unwanted thoughts of friends from the past lingered in the former human's mind, even with the change of pace. He was quick to fall into step as he had done hundreds of times with Miesall in the past.
"Have you ever seen so many flowers?" He asked, a bit nervous to break the silence.
"I am a Watcher." Miesall reminded. He had surely seen millions by now. "And the garden is plentiful of them as well."
Oh, duh. Xelqua almost facepalmed at his own stupidity. He chose to continue this path of conversation, still desperate to get his mind off of life. "Have you ever really experienced flowers that aren't perfect, though?"
"Certainly they smell about the same." Miesall replied, maintaining the same speed.
The blonde stayed silent for awhile, considering this. His thoughts were in two different places, his consciousness trying to cling onto the present while his subconscious continued to think of his ghosts that haunted him still.
