Me: I might be going on a hiatus

Also me: immediately proceeds to post more frequently than I have in a month

Also, this chapter might be slightly clunky. There are a few flashbacks and the only good way I could think of showing it was a flashback was to put barriers around them. Most books put flashbacks in italic, but that means something different here. Anyways, next chapter I will do something new in the ANs. You'll see soon~

Sniffers

Description: Sniffers are an extinct species that were only in the original world Alpha. Even the oldest Watchets have only heard rumors of them. Supposedly, they could smell anything in the universe. Some speculate that means they could smell pheromones, telling about a person's emotions, health, hormonal cycle, etc. If they had other powers, no one knows of them. Some also say they were four legged creatures with a beak. As they are extinct, they have no hybrid species.

Powers: Smell anything in the universe, possibly other things but they're unknown

Colors: Red/Green

Lifespan: 25 (1:4)?

Location: Extinct (formerly Alpha)

Leader: unknown

Hybrids: N/A

At last, Symus had found it. Flying through the air with outstretched wings, he began to tilt himself downwards towards the gravesite. It wasn't much, just a sign in a field. After all the trouble he had gone through to rob the Great Ones of their power, Symus wished Xelqua at least had enough dignity to make a better grave than this. At least a tome or... something. He knew the Watcher was more than capable of making it; he had watched him as a human.

But alas, he supposed such didn't matter as he landed in front of the grave. All that mattered was that he find this place, and he had.

He reached into his inventory and grabbed the shovel that he had made. (He did not like to hold a material possession, but alas they were needed in this case. He would purge them once the mission was over, rest assured.) He broke into the ground, exposing the hole, the grave itself. But what he saw next made him gasp out loud, covering his mouth in horror.

The chest was covered in claw markings and bite marks. It was as though an angry wolf had gotten to it, but their AI certainly would not attack a chest. He was quick to throw the top open, his heart beginning to race.

The fragments, what had been left of Miesall, were gone, devoured by something. All that was left in the chest were claw marks that formed the words

'H̶e̴ ̵i̶s̵ ̴m̷i̷n̸e̶.̷'

Symus recoiled in horror, nearly falling to the ground. His heart beat fast in his chest, forcing himself to slowly approach the box once more. Questions popped into his head. Who had done this? A Listener, perhaps?

No, Symus knew. The Listeners were animalistic in their sinful ways, sure, but they would not legitimately look like a wolf that tore everything to shreds.

Calming down after the initial shock, the Watcher noticed a single thing within the chest. It was so small that it had passed him right by initially. He reached into the upper right corner and retrieved it — the smallest sliver of a shard. He held it in his hands, holding his palms together for its safe keeping. The last thing remaining of Miesall, it would seem.
