3 weeks later since the reveal of my salon and pregnancy.
I'm officially 19 weeks pregnant. I finally have a very visible pouch. The baby and I are doing well. A week ago, once I had the needed supplies, mandatory paperwork and such, I was able to do the actual grand opening of my salon.
I even been working on my own brand for haircare, skincare, and makeup products. The idea was pitched to by my manager, Stacy. So that's the next project I've been wanting to work on now that my salon is open.
But wow, my clientele actually grew majorly. Thanks to Kendrick, my friends, clients, and even TDE shoutouts. People were curious and came by, just like that.
Kay Li's Salon is open and running for business.
Everyone that's working has a choice to either to work for me hourly or rent a booth or room for their services. I offer the choice because I want to be that salon where it's safe and comfortable for beginners. Of course, they have to be licensed. Like Felicity, legally, she can't work on clients in my salon just yet because she's not licensed.
She still takes clients at home in Compton while my salon is LA bound or clients don't mind the travel. But I'm still supporting Felicity as much as I can. Just like me, the girl is hustling. Taking on clients, going to school, and taking classes for Cosmetology. Killing it as always. I'm proud of her.
For those people that just got a license and probably need to build a clientele or just need to get their foot in door, my salon is the place. I want my work space to be super friendly, professional, respectful, sanitary, and fun. I don't expect any less.
Predicting sales for the next few months if we keep going like we are now, I want to start donating to the city of Compton. Giving back is key and something I want to practice.
Other than being at the salon, I'm working at home as well. Filming videos, applying different makeup looks, ideas, tips, and trying new products. I had to hire an assistant and editor because just like my salon, my social media is a hit as well.
I'm filming for YouTube and Instagram mainly but sometimes, I'm on Facebook and Twitter. I'm never on Twitter though, I think I'm gonna delete it again. But yeah, A LOT of new followers and subscribers. I've done a few collaborations with a few beauty influencers as well.
You're probably wondering,' Do you ever have time to yourself? Do you sleep? Aren't you in school? How do you have time?'
Well, my answers is no, no, yes, and I don't.
Even with a management team, an assistant, family and friends support, I'm still super busy and on the go. If I have a day or 2 to myself, it's going towards schoolwork and investing. I get my work done a few weeks early so I can have time for other things.
I always have errands. I literally have an assistant, named Paisley, but I don't bother because I didn't want an assistant to begin with. Paisley is amazing, don't get me wrong but I just prefer to do everything. I found out that it was Kendrick's idea that was pitched to Stacy, I was not pleased. But I get it.
Poor Kendrick, he's going on tour soon and we don't really have as much alone time together as I'd like to. He's been busying himself by going to the studio or rehearsing for upcoming shows. But I know he'd like to cuddle with me and have father/daughter time.
No, we do not know the gender yet. But Kendrick claims it's a girl. He said he has a hunch. I thought it would be a good idea to wait on the gender reveal and combine it with the baby shower. 2 in 1 celebration. Kendrick agreed with me.
So yeah, that's another thing that's being planned.
I had to schedule photo shoots for headshots, graduation, and I'm gonna be featured in a few local LA magazines.
