"What the fuck am i looking at"

We still have about 15 minutes till we are back to the castle entrance. Apparently Gavyn told the coachman to go slow for our return. Already knowing the reason I chuckle at him until we hear a gargled noises outside. My smile drops from my face as the horses neigh loudly and move causing the carriage to wobble. I grip onto Gavyns arm.

"What's going on?" I say

Gavyn looks at me with concern
"I don't know." The crazed hissing and gargles get closer and we hear the coachman scream which is cut short by the sound of tearing and a thud to the ground. My heart is pounding in my chest. Gavyn sits forward shielding me from the door.

"The barrier is still up so they can't hear us." He looks over at me.

"Be ready Kiera."
I feel like I'm going to be sick
The door starts rattling. And I jump, seconds later three big claws puncture through the wall and I yell. That's when claws from all side start gashing all around the carriage. Fuck there's a lot... we're those lycan claws?!

"We need to get out of here..." Gavyn says

"How? It seems like we are surrounded... can you tell what they are?" As I ask, I'm trying to scent what is attacking us but the scent isn't normal... it smells like death. Rotten, vampire and Lychan. What the fuck

"I can't make out what it is other than that I've never smelled anything like it before.... We need to get out...." he says

"Can you mask our scent? I have an idea... that might not work but it's an idea regardless."

"Yes." He starts writing rune marks into our skin while I rip my dress at my thighs so I can move better.

"I' know I can cover an area in complete darkness... but I've never tried actually cloaking someone with me... I'm thinking I cloak the area with shadows.. and ourselves. You might not be able to see where we are going but I will."

"We go with that then, we don't have many options other than blowing out the roof or door, but that risks them jamming themselves in here with us." The claws start making huge gashes, making pieces of the carriage fly around us. FUCK.

"watch my back."
I slow my breathing and concentrate on the dark energy around me. Whenever danger surrounds me I swear it makes my powers stronger. Feeling myself fill with shadow energy I push my hands out covering the entire area around us is complete darkness.

"Grab onto my shoulder, don't let go." I tell Gavyn, He grabs onto me as I cloak us in shadows. I'm still able to see around me as if the shadows weren't there.

"Are you able to see?" I ask him

"I can see yes."

"And if you take your hand off me?" He takes his hand off my shoulder.

"No... I need to be touching you."

"Shit.... Still better than nothing, don't let go."

They are still attacking the carriage and I think the best option might be to go through the floor, I try to summon earth magic but it's difficult when I'm in control of the shadows, like it doesn't want to share me with any of the other elements.

"Gavyn, can you summon earth energy to break open the floor?"
He smirks at me catching my idea.

He summons roots from the earth that quietly break through the floor, making an opening large enough for us to jump down one at a time. The carriage is still moving from being attacked and they are seconds away from breaking it open. we both land on the ground shrouded in darkness.
