"Grandpa, my back hurts like hell." said Shinichiro as he approached the dinner table where his grandfather was.

His grandfather's eyes stayed focused on the newspaper that his currently reading, "You fell off your bed again, what do you expect?" he said as he took a sip of his tea.

Shinichiro looked at him boringly as he sat on the other side of the table. "and besides, I know you're saying that because you don't want to go to school today." said his grandfather, causing Shinichiro to flinch. The old man glanced at him and said, "Nice try."

Shinichiro looked away from him and whispered, "Damn it.." Then he began thinking that he shouldn't have told him that he fell off his bed.

Then [first name] walked in, also already in her school uniform, rubbing her back, "Grandpa," she called, which her grandfather immediately turned his head to look at her—he was a little surprised when she called him Grandpa, instead of Granddaddy. He was a little sad about it but he knows that his granddaughter is slowly growing up. Then he noticed the sad look on her face. "My back hurts.." said [first name].

Shinichiro gave her a teasing grin, "That's what you get for sleeping in weird positions." he said as he took a spoonful of his cereal. "Seriously, you look like a pretzel when you sleep." he continued teasing her.

"Well, now, if it hurts so much then you can just stay home and not go to school today." said their grandfather in concern. Shinichiro nearly choked when he heard that, he placed his spoon down and looked at his grandfather, "Hey! That's not fair!"

[first name] sat next to her brother, "It's okay, Grandpa, it doesn't hurt that much.." she said as she began eating her breakfast, which is also a bowl of cereal. Shinichiro groaned in annoyance as he went back to eating his cereal.

"By the way, your father's not going to take you to school today." said their Grandfather as he went back to his newspaper. Shinichiro flinched, he wasn't surprised or anything but he knew someone might not be happy about it. He glanced at his sister beside him, "It's fine..Mommy already told me.." she said in a very sad tone. "He's always busy.."

Shinichiro couldn't help but look at her sadly, seeing her sad also made him sad. Then he immediately thought of a way to make her smile, "Hey, [nickname], there's a new toy shop  near here, and I heard there are a lot of cars displayed in their big ass window!" he said excitedly, knowing that his sister has an interest in cars. "Language, Shinichiro." their grandfather scolded, not wanting [first name] to talk like her older brother. "We can check it out on our way to school!" said Shinichiro, ignoring his grandfather.

A small smile formed on [first name]'s lips, "That sounds fun.." she said as she turned to glance at him.

Their grandfather couldn't help but smile when he heard Shinichiro cheering his sister up. Then he suddenly remembered something, he placed his newspaper down as he stopped up from his chair. Then he went to get his grandchildren's lunch that their parents packed for them.

He went back holding two small lunch bags, and in each bag, there was a note. "Here." he said as he placed the bags in front of them. The two siblings were surprised when they saw the note on their lunch bags because this was the first time that they'd received a note.

Shinichiro took the small sticky note and began reading it,

Have fun in school, bud! Enjoy the meal that I cooked for you :)
