"So, I take it that this," I stick my spoon into the shared tub of mint chocolate ice cream before pointing to the mark on my neck, "Isn't right?" After showing me the pack house, Dean brought me to his room to relax. The amount of information taken in today making me tired. Dean glances at me, the guilt heavy in his eyes."No, it's not right. It wasn't supposed to happen like that. Your body is rejecting my mark. Rejecting me." He says, his voice full of remorse as he sits his spoon down.
"Rejecting it? Why?" I ask, a finger tracing the rugged circle.
"I forced it on you. There's a process to all this – sort of. Marking usually occurs during sex. Both parties are ready and it's just easier. I fucked up by visiting you that night- during full moons our wolves are in their most control. Couple that with unmated Alpha and you get a mess."
"Can you fix it?"
"Sure, I can it just involves me marking you again. Which I won't do until you are truly ready." He sighs, brushing against it with gentle fingers, "Does it hurt?"
"Not really. Not anymore." Dean releases a breath, the news seeming to calm him. His hand drops from my neck and into his lap.
"That's good." Dean clears his throat as I take his hand in my own, tracing random lines in his palm.
"Why'd you do it?" I ask, "I mean I get it, you weren't in complete control but did you have to bite me?"
"You have to understand something, when you called out his name," a growl vibrating lowly in his chest, "all common sense and reason went out the window. All that mattered in that moment was marking you. Showing everybody and everything that you are mine. And only mine. I couldn't help myself. I know it doesn't explain what I did but it's all I got." I've never belonged to anyone before- not in the way Dean talks. It excites and scares me. He must take my silence for something else because he closes his hand around mine and starts apologizing again.
"I really am sorry Selene. You don't know how much I've beaten myself up over-" I place a hand over his mouth, shaking my head.
"Stop. Stop apologizing. It was a mistake. It happened and I'm okay, truly. It doesn't even bother me anymore so please just stop." I tell him, moving my hand from his lips to his cheek, stroking it softly. Dean inhales deeply and closes his eyes, instantly relaxing into my touch. Gaining some small amount of courage, I lean in and capture his lips with mine catching him off guard and he stiffens slightly before wrapping his arms around the small of my back. Even though we've kissed before, this time seems different. Lighter without the secrets and fear of one another. Fear of me running again and of him hurting me. Dean trails his hand up my side, cupping the side of my neck, those amazing tingles rushing through, causing me to shiver as a small moan escapes me and Dean to smirk. He swipes his tongue against my bottom lip, asking for entry which I quickly allow. He explores my mouth thoroughly, his fingers tangling in my hair as I scramble into his lap, wanting to feel every muscle and contour of him. Wrapping his arms around my waist, Dean groans as I run my hands under his shirt and up his chest. Breathing heavily, he suddenly stops and quickly pulls away, his eyes glow a bright green as he stands, creating distance between us.
"What's wrong?" I ask, trying to control my breathing.
"I just need a minute." He breaths, shutting his eyes tight, fists clenched at his side, "I don't want to push you." The room grows quiet as he slowly relaxes, his breathing returning to normal.
"So, we can't even kiss?" I ask him as I try to keep the rejection, I feel hidden. He smiles softly before sitting next to me again.
"I just want to do this right. Give you the time you need and make sure you're okay with all of this." I smile before standing and walking over to him, carefully wrapping my arms around his waist, and hugging him. His head resting on my head, he hugs me back, tight but not too tight to hurt me.
