"I am so sorry." Aviva whines, throwing her arms around me tightly when I get out of my car."Me too." I say, hugging her back.
"Let's never fight again." She says laying her head on my shoulder as we walk into work.
"Agreed." I say patting her head and she crinkles her nose before standing up straight and hitting the button on the elevator.
"Can I tell you something?" I ask her as we get in and I press the button for the doors to close.
"Of course." She answers, pulling out a compact mirror to check her make-up.
"I think I saw that wolf again last night," Aviva snaps the mirror shut and looks at me- once again not looking the least bit surprised.
"Really?" She asks, the elevator doors opening, and we step out.
"It was really quick, but I know I saw him." I tell her, sitting at my desk.
"So, what if you did?" She asks me, setting her bag down on the floor by her chair.
"I am not sure. It is weird if he was there last night what does that mean? How did he find me? Will he be back?" I ask her, feeling a strange rush excitement at the thought.
"I have no idea Sel." She answers, clearly over the direction the conversation is headed.
"Vi, it is alright you know." I say, turning in my chair to face her.
"What is?" She asks, looking up from her computer.
"You can tell me I am completely crazy. Crazy land is not even my destination right now I flew right over that and landed in the cuckoo's nest." I laugh earning a smile from her otherwise serious demeanor.
"You are not crazy Selene." Well I am something. Who looks forward to seeing a wild animal outside of their house? Who hopes to? I turn to my compute trying to focus on my work. Halfway through the day, Joe comes out of his office and walks to the elevator meeting a man as he steps out. Aviva's head snaps up her eyes wide as they land on the man, before looking back at her computer. Whoever he is has caused more of a reaction from Aviva l than I have all day. Looking away from Aviva and back towards the mystery man, I am surprised to notice him staring at me, his green eyes somehow familiar piercing through me. My heart skips a beat and my palms get sweaty as I stare at this man, not able to break this trance he has on me. That scar! Where have I seen it? He finally looks away and I blush looking back at my computer, wanting to disappear into the screen. I probably seemed like a total freak to him, just staring at him with my mouth wide open.
Idiot. I think sliding my chair next to Aviva.
"Who is that?" I whisper to her, stealing a peek at the office. The two seem to be having an intense conversation as Joe hands him a folder.
"I have no idea." She answers. Why are you lying?!
"Really because when he walked in you seemed like you did."
"I do not know him Selene." She says looking from me to the man, before looking at her computer again.
"Ok," I scoff angrily, "when you are ready to stop lying to me, I am willing to talk." I slide my chair back over, picking up another letter. The door opens again, and Aviva and I look up- she sure seems interested in a man she claims not to know- and Joe walks over to us, pulling her to the side and whispering in her ear. I try not to make it obvious that that I am trying my hardest to overhear the two.
"Now?" Aviva whispers in disbelief and she looks back at the man who nods slightly as if to answer her question. There is now way he could be doing that, right?
