9. Sorry?

The next morning I woke up ready for work. I was in a good mood for some reason. After doing my hygiene routine, I got dressed in a creme pants-suit, and black heels. After straightening my hair and doing my makeup, I was out of the door.

After stopping to get Sam and I's usual breakfast from Starbucks, I headed to work. When I got to the office, Sam told me Zach wanted to see me in his office. I knocked, and he called for me to come in.

"Samantha said you wanted to see me?" He was sitting at his desk. "Yes, have a seat please"

I closed the door, sitting down. "I've been letting people go. I've been trying to downsize the company"

I was confused. "Okay...?" I trailed off. He got out of his seat. "How much do you love your job Emerald?"

"A lot Zach. What are you getting at?"

He walked to the door, locking it. "Nothing. I just need a little convincing. Trina would like a raise, and I'm thinking about giving her your job" Trina was his new fling.

"Excuse me?" What the hell? "I've worked my ass off to get this position and you're trying to give it to someone whose been working here for not even a month?!"

"I know how hard you worked to get here, I'm just want to know how hard you're willing to work to stay there" Pissed off was an understatement.

"So what do you want?" He smirked, walking closer to me. He grabbed my cheek, caressing it. "I miss us baby"

His hands moved down my stomach and onto my ass. "I miss this. Show me how much you're willing to keep your job" I pulled away from him. "No!" I shouted. "I can't do this"

Zach pulled me closer. "Just one time baby. One time and I won't ask anymore. It can be between us"

"Zach you know how much I love my job"

"I do know baby. But I'm in love with you. Trina doesn't mean anything. I was just trying to get over you. But it's not working. I can't get you out of my head"

"If you love me then why are you giving me an ultimatum Zach?" He sighed. "I don't know. I'm sorry. You can go. Just think about giving us a chance okay?" He walked me over to the door, opening it for me. I turned to look at him one last time, "Okay"

Later on that night, I relaxed in a nice bubble bath, drinking wine. I kept thinking about earlier today and what Zach was telling me. He was in love with me?

I heard my front door close, and I jumped. Only two people had an extra key to my apartment. David walked in the bathroom holding edible arrangements, which happened to be one of my favorite things.

"Hey baby, I tried to call you and you didn't answer"

I sighed. "I know"

"What's wrong?" he asked. "It's nothing" I said grabbing my body scrub. David grabbed it out of my hands. "Let me help you"

He started getting undressed while I let the water out of the bathtub, and turned on the shower. Once David was completely naked, he stepped in the shower with me. "I love your body"

He smirked, "I know baby"

He leaned down, kissing me slowly. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He picked me up, I jumped feeling the cool shower door on my back. I gasped as he slid into me slowly. "You ready?"

Ashlyn wasn't the only one to hear David come through the front door. Looking over to check the time, which read, 3:22am. What the hell? "Lord forgive me" she said quickly afterwards. She had been waiting to see David all day, every since she got the call last night hearing him fornicating with another woman.

When he walked into the room, she immediately sat up, turning on the lamp next to her. "David where have you been?! It's 3 o'clock in the morning!"

David sighed, "Out Ashlyn, I was out with the guys, I'm sorry I didn't call you"

"You're lying! When I called you last night, you answered, but it wasn't just you. I heard another woman moaning your name in the background" David froze immediately. He turned to Ashlyn, she already had tears forming in her eyes.

"Ashlyn I'm sorry" David said walking over to her. "It was a mistake, she doesn't matter baby. I love you" Ashlyn shook her head, finally breaking down. "David I know you still resent me for what I did in the past, and I understand, but I thought we were ok?" She cried.

David grabbed her, pulling her to him. He felt horrible, seeing his wife fall apart in front of him. How could he be so selfish?

"Ashlyn, I promise you. It'll never happen again baby. I love you. I only want you" Ashlyn looked at him, nodding her head. He hugged her, and sighed. Now he just had to break it to Emerald.

The next morning, David arrived at work somewhat late. He woke up and cooked for Ashlyn, little by little trying to earn back her trust. Walking into his office, David didn't know he had a visitor.

Emerald walked into Wright Construction with a wide grin. She was in a good mood for some reason. "Hello, I'm here to see Mr.Wright"

The secretary smiled and showed me to his office. He wasn't in there, so she told me to wait. I looked around, taking in the appearance of his office. It was really nice. She stopped when saw a picture of him and Ashlyn.

She frowned. Hearing the door open, she turned, finding David looking delicious in his suit and tie. He closed the door. "Hey Daddy" I said walking up to him kissing him. For some reason he seemed like he didn't want to be bothered.

"I missed you" I said grabbing his bulge through his slacks. He grunted but grabbed my hand. "What's wrong David?"

He sighed. "I can't do this anymore"

"What?" my heart shattered. "Ashlyn overheard us. She doesn't know it was you but I promised her I would end it" I wiped the tear I didn't know fell.

"I'm sorry Emerald. I really am. I just can't stand to see her hurt anymore" I wiped my tears. "OK. Give me my key"

"Baby I'm sorry"

"Give me my fucking key David!"

He sighed and reached into his pocket, grabbing his wallet. He took it out, handing it to me. David started to say something else but I was already out of the door.
