Five Months Later
I sat at my desk going over my schedule for the week. I was definitely gonna be booked and busy. After everything that happened last year, I turned over a new leaf. I quit my job at Solite and decided to start up my own smoothie bar. Safe to say, it was a success.
Within just five months of opening, Miami allowed us to be put on the map. I'm guessing tourists loved the idea of a smoothie shop turning into a bar after hours. Nonetheless I was very pleased with my life.
Antonio and I tied the knot rather quickly—two months after being released from the hospital and finding out I was pregnant. He claimed he wanted the baby to be born after we get married which I both understood and agreed with. Speaking of which, I was starting to show a lot but luckily, the success of my store allowed me to be hands-off if I wanted to. I was just glad I was brave enough to chase one of my dreams.
I wasn't that brave though.
I still had to do the bravest thing I've ever done.
Tell David that he might be the father of my baby.
I made sure to cut off all communication with him as soon as I found out. I know it was selfish but I didn't wanna string him any further along than what I had already done. The only person that knows this secret is Kortni. Surprisingly, her and I have grown close. She had a kid so she was somebody who was willing to help me through motherhood other than Gran.
Speaking of Gran, she was excited to be able to experience her great grand-baby while she still could. She was also surprised in my turning over of a new leaf. She trusted that she was completely happy and would tell her if anything else but all she could do was pray.
A knock on the door broke my thoughts. I looked up and my employee Sarai walked in. I smiled and greeted her. She was my first employee and was never scared to take risks with me and the business and because of that, she was running things when I wasn't there.
Everything in my life seemed like it was going perfect and it was gonna remain that way until I felt otherwise.
I had a business.
A good husband.
A house.
A baby.
And a secret.
