Chapter 16 - Omertà
*****

Isolabella didn't want to get out of bed the next day.

She wanted nothing more than the darkness from under her blankets to swallow her whole and completely.

"Sweetheart."

She heard her mother's voice speak up.

"It's courtesy to show your face at these things."

Isolabella only pulled the blankets up further over her head.

Genevieve sighed as she hated knowing this was part of the plan. Yet her daughter was in clear pain at the supposed loss of Digger.

Genevieve stood beside Bones as every men on her payroll stood around, cobras included.

They had to sell Digger's death to keep Ace safe.

"Digs wasn't afraid to tell you exactly what he was thinking." Bones spoke as he looked down at the rough dirt that been messed up, to look like they had just buried him.

"I think we can all agree he knew how to push everyone's buttons. Pissing us all off was definitely one of his specialties."

A couple of them nodded and mumbled in agreement.

"But at the end of the day, he was still one of us." Bones looked up around at them all.

"He was one of the strongest, most loyal men I've ever had the pleasure, no," he paused. "The honour of serving with."

"I assure you we will all honour Miss Cunningham's request, Ace Merrill is no longer a member of this family."

Others nodded in agreement as Eyeball felt himself tense up, his eyes locked on the dirt where Digger had been "buried."

"Luca's loyalty to her will live on in all of us as I expect nothing but full devotion, less he wish to suffer the same fate."

"Luca Hastings may have been our Digger." Bones paused as he shuffled slightly. "It is nothing less than painful and unfortunate, we had to dig his own grave for him, this early in his life."

"May he rest in the most perfect peace, knowing his life will not be forgotten and if I may say, those burgers will be thoroughly missed."

This drew a few small laughs and nods.

"To our Luca." Bones pulled out his gun as he pointed it upwards. "We send you to the stars."
