The sun was barely up in the sky but all the executives of Bonten were already sitting in Mikey's living room, on the fancy couches around the coffee table. After the events of the previous night, a meeting was necessary to discuss their next move. The night had been short for all of them. They had been keeping an eye onBerserk and Sanzu, along with the Haitani brothers, had been in charge of interrogating Yuuga Hiroto. They were not done yet. The lower executive of Berserk was tougher than he seemed. And as Sanzu was strictly informed to make him talk and say what he knew, the pink-haired boy could not kill him yet. This also meant that he had to go easy on the torture to make sure Hiroto would still be able to share some intel. If his brain was fried or if he run out of blood, getting intel would not be possible.
Around two in the morning, no Berserk members were seen in Shibuya which meant that it was the hour where their operation ended. However, even though no fight erupted opposing the two gangs, Berserk's operation failed. They were supposed to get Sakiko but came back with nothing and a lower executive was missing. Their boss, whoever he was, was surely enraged. It was only the beginning.
"I don't think having Sakiko and the child here is the best of ideas," Sanzu quietly said.
Mikey who was sitting on an armchair at the end of the low table, moved his empty yet cold eyes to his second of command who was sitting on his right side. It was rare for Sanzu to not agree with the boss. Usually, he would just execute the order. But whoever it was something personal which were the things that threatened Bonten the most, Sanzu would always speak his mind. He was the only one able to do this, thanks to his position and long relationship with Mikey. After all, among all the executives, Sanzu was the one Mikey knew the longest and the most.
"Do you oppose my commandment?" Mikey asked; his voice calm yet very menacing.
"Of course not," Sanzu shook his head. "I'm just stating my mind-"
"I don't remember asking you to,"
"Mikey, in the long term, it will not be a very comfortable situation," Sanzu insisted, weighing his words. "When we'll destroy Berserk, then what? Sakiko and her kid will go back to their peaceful life? She knows where we all live now, and will possibly get other information on us. She's not just a liability anymore, she's a threat. If she goes to the police, it's over for us,"
"Sanzu," Mikey coldly said, more authority and threat in his voice. His eyes were firm and dark. "Again, I don't remember asking you to talk,"
Sanzu sharply inhaled but said nothing. He knew very well that whenever it was about Sakiko, Mikey would do things he usually wouldn't as well as not listen to any advice the executives would give him. Sanzu would always try to keep him on track, to make him remember his Bonten's goals, but it rarely worked.
"I doubt Sakiko will snitch on us," Takeomi intervened, trying to ease the situation. "It will not be very beneficial for her. If she goes to the police, they would ask her how she got this intel. She would have to tell them the truth, which would not be in her favor. Why did she agree to stay with Bonten and didn't call the police? What is her link with us? With Mikey? They're going to put two and two together. And if they find out who Emari's dad is, then it'd be worse. Why did she spend a night with the leader of a gang? Why didn't she report him to the police? Sakiko would be seen as an accomplice more than anything,"
"So we don't have to worry about her betraying us," Ran concluded.
Takeomi's cleverness and quick wit were always very welcome to clear everyone's mind and give another perspective on a situation. He was older, he was wiser, and had a lot of experience. He had lived a lot of things that allowed him to have a clearer and down-to-earth view of life. Sanzu had not been the only one dubitative about Sakiko's presence here but hearing Takeomi's analysis of the situation did ease them. Never Sakiko would compromise herself and her daughter. And compromising Bonten would compromise her.
