"Hi, Saki-chan!"
A bright smile was then plastered on Sakiko's face when she caught sight of Hinata joyfully waving at her. Sakiko quickly joined her on the terrace of the café and sat with her. Hinata had already bought drinks; two cups of milk tea as they would usually take whenever they would hang out together.
Days had passed since the assessment. Nothing much had changed in Sakiko's life, except for the fact she would converse a lot more with Draken and Seishu over the phone. Now that they knew the truth, there was nothing that she should hide from them. Being able to talk freely to her friends lifted a weight from her shoulders. She felt a lot less lonely now.
"I feel like it's been ages since we haven't seen each other," Sakiko chuckled. "I'm so happy to see you again,"
The last time the two best friends had seen each other was at Hinata's wedding. The latter left for her honeymoon so, naturally, the two girls both handled their lives on their own. Now that Hinata was back — after a few days of resting from the travel — she wished to catch up with her friend. And Sakiko was more than happy. She had missed her friend a great deal, but she also had missed this sense of normality a lot. It was the first time she could be just Sakiko.
When she told Mikey she would hang out with Hinata, he had in fact not been very joyous at the idea. He was not against her spending time with her best friend, it was the opposite actually. He understood her need of having time for herself and he respected that. But regarding the situation with Berserk, having Sakiko wander around the city alone did not put his mind at rest — because of course, Sakiko had been very clear on the fact that she wanted no bodyguard around while she would spend the day with Hinata.
"How have you been?" Hinata asked, swirling her tea. "Is your shoulder okay?"
"I'm fine, don't worry," Sakiko reassured. Truth be told, Sakiko had quite forgotten about her injury. With everything that had happened ever since her shoulder was the least of her worries. However, now that she would race again at Raven, it might be a good idea to check it. She should be perfect in order to race. "Everything is pretty much the same, you know. Waking up, dropping Ema off at school, going to work, picking up Ema, and going back home. But I do weirdly enjoy working a lot. It takes my mind off for a bit,"
Her routine changed quite a lot in the last few days but she could not tell Hinata even though she wished to. She fancied the idea of confiding in her friend and seeking her good advice. But in the situation she was in, that was definitely not an option.
"What about you, though? Tell me everything about your honeymoon!"
Hinata beamed a solar smile, as many memories flooded her mind. It had been such a lovely time, moments of pure and absolute bliss away from the issues of daily life. Oh, how she wished to go back to this time.
"It was amazing! Thank you for the gift by the way! Takemichi-kun and I strolled a lot in the local town and visited around. We spent a lot of time at the beach too! It was like a dream, it was just so perfect! And the hotel! Oh my, the hotel was wonderful!"
Seeing Hinata so blissful could not make Sakiko happier. After everything she and Takemichi had gone true, it was a deserved ad rightful happy ending.
"And how is your life now as Mrs. Hanagaki?"
The obvious teasing tone of Sakiko's blush brought a soft shade of red to Hinata's cheeks. It still felt like a dream to her.
"We're still trying to get used to living together. To get used to each other's habits. But so far, it's doing very well. We're also... You know... We're trying... We're trying to have kids now,"
