"Can you mount on your own ?", Devon asked, as I stroked the horse.

I gave him a look. It had been quite some time since I rode a horse, but I was sure I could manage on my own.
"Of course I can Devon ", I said, and almost landed on my ass when I tried.

Devon chuckled, I blushed.

He teleported behind me, and my heart began to skip beats. He placed his hands on my waist, and guided me till I was sitting comfortably on the horse.

"Thank you ", I said, avoiding his gaze.

He hummed, and teleported away probably to get Kira. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

Devon did things to me, things I didn't want to admit to at first, but things I couldn't help. From the very first day I met him laying in the clinic barely holding on to life, I knew that it wasn't just coincidence, it was the gods bringing us together for some reason.

I had lost my entire family in the war, and I had lost my way. I was blinded by revenge, by anger for a very long time till the general found me and brought me to safe land where I had found a purpose. But even with thousands of people around me, and with people who claimed they wanted to be just like me, I had never felt truly happy. The admiration, and praises never helped, I had felt alone, until Devon.

A demon. He was different. And with time I realised that I was in love with him. He cared about me a lot, and he had shown me in different ways. He said we were like different pieces merging together, and completing each other, but I wanted more than just completing each other.

I had never told him how I felt about him, but I knew he could tell. And that day he had teleported to my room, and taken me to the most magical garden I have ever been, where he had kissed me with so much passion. I knew he must feel the same way towards me.

He teleported on his horse with Kira in his arms.

"We have to ride fast Evelyn, before the sun go down", He said.

I nodded, and we rode our way through the six protecting walls, and out of safe land .

The sun was setting, but we were no where close to reaching the forest. I didn't want to admit it, but I was scared. The seer said it could take a full day to get to the forest, and we had left safe land very early but there was no way we could reach the forest today at this pace.

"Evelyn we have to stop ", Devon said, beside me.

I looked around. The entire place was deserted, there were so many damaged buildings, abandoned items, crushed cars. It had been so long since I had seen one. My heart ached, and tears stung my eyes. All caused by vampires.

"Evelyn ", Devon called my name.
I turned to him, and his crimson eyes held mine captive, "I need you to focus ".

I nodded, "Sorry ".

He dismounted his horse, and I followed.
"We have to teleport close to the forest from here ", he said, carrying Kira over his shoulder.

"But how about ... ".

"If we keep going, it won't be long before we meet vampires. And with Kira, it would be difficult to fight them off and protect her ", he cut in, "But if we teleport from here, and get her to the hut. It would be so much easier for us to head back ".

"Okay, that makes sense ".

"Hold on to me", he ordered.

I don't why his words made me shiver, but I wrapped my arms around his waist, and got that familiar feeling I got whenever we teleported. It didn't take long before we were in front of the forest. Devon swayed a bit, and I grabbed his arm to steady him.

"Are you okay ?".

He let out a grunt, "Sorry, I'm fine ".

"What's wrong ?".

He wrapped his arms around my waist without warning, before he teleported again. And this time we landed in the forest.

He almost fell when we arrived there, I grabbed his arm to help him steady.

"Devon what's wrong ?".

He growled, "Nothing ".

Other growls accompanied his, and I looked around my heart hammering in my chest. The forest was almost pitch black, and it was really hard to see. I placed my hand on the ground, and fire surrounded us.

The growls were louder now, closer.

"Devon what's wrong ?", I asked him, I couldn't even keep the fear from my voice.

He shook his head, and grabbed me again. This time teleporting us out of the forest.

I swayed a bit, as I watched him drop Kira gently on the ground before he fell to the ground.

I rushed to his side, "Devon just tell me what's wrong ", I pleaded, as I pulled his head to my thighs.

His crimson eyes bled red, "I'm fine Evelyn. I just feel weak", he mumbled.

I looked up to the sky. It would soon be sun down, we had to take Kira to the half breed before sunset.

I stroked his face, "Can you keep going ?".

He nodded, "I can't let anything happen to you and Kira ".

His words warmed my heart, and I placed my lips to his forehead.

He hummed, "I like that ".

I felt heat creep up to my cheeks, and I gently pushed his head from my thighs.
"Get your ass up ".

He chuckled as I got up. I watched him get up, and quickly grabbed his arm to keep him from falling when he reeled.

I stared at him with concern, and he tucked a strand of my red hair behind my ear before giving me a reassuring smile that looked forced.
"I'm fine ".

I frowned, but let him go. He picked Kira up, and swung her over his shoulder.

"She's heavier than she looks ", He said.

I chuckled, and we continued on our way.
