Chapter Forty Two

We're going to be taking a little trip back okay 😊, and this time in Evelyn's POV. She's got a lot of explaining to do.

Kathryn, Kira's roommate had raised an alarm weeks ago, she stated she had found Kira unconscious in their bathroom. The wierd part was no one knew what was wrong with her, not the doctor, not the seer, not Devon, not the water elementals that had scanned her body. No one.

Kira had been asleep for two weeks now, and it was starting to scare everyone.

This morning the seer had called for an emergency meeting. The officials were present, the strongest hunters were also present, and as one of them I was also expected to be present, the only person left was Devon.

"Where is the demon ?", Celine, a half breed asked.
Half breeds were half vampires, half humans and in my opinion were very dangerous. They didn't possess powers, but they were faster, and stronger than ten vampires combined. I didn't know why the seer said she could be trusted, I didn't ask, it wasn't my place.

" Yes Evelyn, Where is your boyfriend ?", Lucas, a hunter I couldn't stand asked.

I rolled my eyes, and ignored him. Because I was always standing up for Devon, and always chose him as my partner for errands the general assigned us, a lot of hunters started spreading rumors that we were an item. It seriously didn't bother either of us.

"Evelyn why aren't you ... ".

"Can you shut your hole for a second ?", Rhoda, a water elemental and one of my few friends cut him off.

He glared at her, I shot her a smile.

"I think it's best we start without him ", the general suggested.

"No, He's a huge part of safe land. His presence at this meeting is very important ", the seer said.

And almost immediately he appeared.
Thomas, the fourth in command started clapping, "Bravo demon ! That was quite an entrance ".

The second, and third in command to the general, were stationed outside safe land, so they were rarely around. And unfortunately, we had to deal with Thomas's stupidity.

"Thomas !", The seer warned.

Devon ignored him, "Greetings everyone, sorry I'm late ".

His eyes met mine, and he shot me a small smile, I returned it.
If shit and hell merged together, and decided to take a physical form that would be Devon right now. He looked terrible !

I had never seen him like this before, and I noticed that it all started when Kira was administered to the clinic. He was barely around anymore, he had bags under his eyes, he looked sick, and it had me worried.

Was it because he trained her, or ... ?

" I'm sure you all already know why this meeting was called ", the seer started, "There is a hunter, her name's Kira. She's been in the clinic for two weeks now, and has shown no sign of waking up. No one knows what's wrong with her ".

Everyone kept quiet, waiting for her continue.

"I know a half breed, that resides far from here. She has great knowledge of herbs, and I believe she can help Kira ".
