Still third person POV
Kira didn't know which was worse. My mother laying on the ground, a shell of who she had known all her life. Or Zethar's triumphant smile as he rose to his feet.
She tensed. This was just the beginning. What else did he have under his sleeve ? Who else ?
Then her mind drifted to him. To Devon, and a low gasp escaped her lips.
Zethar's eyes met hers. Like he had figured out what she was thinking.
The corner of his lips rose in a smirk. "Bring Devon", he ordered.
She looked down to the ground not knowing what to feel. Zethar had said Devon had brought her mother to him. But she wouldn't trust his words, but she also couldn't trust Devon.
The same demons that had teleported her mother in, brought Devon in but he was chained, and more injured.
Kira's eyes were still to the ground, she didn't want to look. At the same time, she was beginning to feel the effect of the gethum again. She felt weaker, and she almost couldn't feel her arms again, which meant her powers that had manifested before were fading.
"Take him closer to her", Zethar commanded.
The two demons teleported in front of Kira with Devon.
Zethar moved with vampire speed to her side, leaning close to whisper in her ear.
"Come on look at him. Look at the demon that helped me bring you here".
Kira lifted her head, and faced Devon. He looked terribe, and it tugged at her heart despite everything. That was the thing about love. It never seizes.
"I'm sorry", he said, tears welling in his eyes. " I'm sorry Kira". His voice was low, raspy, and filled with pain.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. " Did you bring my mother here ?".
He shook his head, wincing at the pain the simple movement brought him. "I didn't. But I knew they had her".
The golden in her eyes dissipated.
"You're telling me you knew what they were doing to her ?".He lowered his gaze to the ground.
" Answer me !".
Zethar chuckled.
" I didn't know what they were doing to her. I thought Zethar was just keeping her imprisoned".
" And he did nothing about it Kira. He would have, but he didn't", Zethar informed her, waiting patiently for her anger. But it never came, he was growing impatient.
"All you've done is lie, and deceive me. At this point, I'm not surprised", Kira said nonchalantly like her heart wasn't bleeding.
"I ...", Devon started, but Zethar's patience had already snapped.
"That's enough", he said, "Move him away from her".
The demons dragged Devon away from Kira, and she turned her eyes to the ground. She felt weaker, and dark dots were already painting her vision.
She heard Zethar speak. "See my beloved, I've been nice all night but I'm done with that. I guess you need ...".
There was a ringing in her head, that blocked out the rest of his words. The spots covered more of her vision, she felt lighter, and everything seemed to be happening in slow motion.
She could see Zethar's lips moving as he pointed at her mom. The demons left Devon, and he fell to the ground with a thud and groan. The demons moved to her mom, who was as good as dead. A tear rolled down her cheeks.
