Logan's POV

The next morning, I wake up in Miles' bed and my phone is blasting in my ear because somebody thought that it was necessary to call me at eight in the morning. I can feel Miles breathing behind me with my back pressed against his bare chest so I know that he's still in the bed with me but he's probably still sleeping so I quickly grab the phone in hopes of answering it before it wakes up my boyfriend.

We didn't have sex last night but this argument with Mae is really stressing me out and Miles has a way of calming me down, so I slept in here.

"Hello?" I answer the phone in a whisper as I wiggle out of Miles' arms and then stand to my feet. Glancing back, I see that I have successfully not woken Miles up so I tiptoe the rest of the way to our conjoining bathroom and then into my own room.

"Hi, honey, how are you?" My mother answers the phone and I'm kind of surprised that she's calling me considering I haven't spoken to my parents in about a week. I think their arguing over little ownership things is getting really intense. I'm convinced that my dad is close to just taking a chainsaw to everything that we own and cutting it all right down the center.

"I've been better," I admit when I'm back in my room. "How are you and Dad?"

"We're doing well, actually," She explains to me. "Which is really why I'm calling.  We'll probably have everything settled by next Monday, so you can come home now and start getting ready for school."

"Really?" I wonder, frozen from the shock of what she just said. I'm not sure if I'm relieved by that or not because I mean, I'm not too keen on staying in the same house as Mae right now but on the other hand, I would miss having her around if I were to leave. And then there's the whole Miles thing. I warned him that I'd have to leave but he just ignored me and now we have to deal with it.

"Yep, isn't that so exciting?" She wonders, her voice high pitched and shrilling.

"Um, well I thought that I had until the end of the summer is all," I explain, still trying to process what she said.

"Well, honey, if you want to stay until the end of the summer, I guess that's alright," She informs me. "I just miss you a lot and I want you home. But whatever you want to do, as long as you're back before school starts of course."

"Right, I'll think about it. I don't know what I want to do," I admit to her, sitting down on the edge of my bed as I run my fingers through my tangled hair. "But I'm glad to hear that you guys are finally tying things up. It took long enough."

"I know, it was rough, but it's finally over," She mumbles, not sounding very excited about that. They argue constantly but I know that my parents still love each other, they're getting the divorce because they know that it's the right thing to do. They love each other sure, but it's just not enough with them. It's just not healthy for anybody that they fight like they did.

"Well, I'm going through a thing with Mae right now so I think that right now is a good time to get out of here but..." I trail off, unsure of how I want to put the next part of this.

"But what?" My mother prods.

"I'm kind of dating Miles now. You remember Mae's brother?" I feel bad for telling her this, just as she's finalizing her divorce because I feel like it's rubbing it in her face but I haven't told her yet and I feel like now that the cat's out of the bag, now is as good a time as ever.

"Oh. Wow. Okay, well that's unexpected. How old is he?"

"He's only a year older than me and Mae," I explain to her. "Anyway, I just don't know what I want to do."
