Mae’s POV

Today is supposed to be a lazy/relaxing kind of day. At least that’s what I thought it would be when I woke up this morning. But as everyone knows, the world is unpredictable.

“Ugh,” I groan on Sunday morning, flipping over to turn the alarm on my phone off. During the week and sometimes on Saturdays, I like to wake up a bit earlier to have time to run or do some type of exercise, but Sundays are my relax type of days, where I get to be lazy all day and not feel bad about it. It’s wonderful really.

I rub my eyes after I turn the annoying alarm off, pulling the covers of my blanket a bit further down so that it is not hugging my neck, because that really bothers me- when the blanket is tight around my neck.

I slip out of bed, making my way towards my en suite. On the way towards the bathroom, I grab some clothes that I decide I am going to wear for the day- a pair of navy blue shorts that are kind of like sweatpants but a shorts version. I take a white sports tank top that has one slim light sea blue strip on each of the straps that go over my shoulders. For a sports tank top, the tank top is surprisingly comfy, and it isn’t tight fitting.

I step into shower after I grab my clothes and have entered the bathroom. I wash my body with some flower scented body wash and rinse my hair with some shampoo and conditioner.

Once I’m done showering and I am in my comfy, casual clothes, I decide to head downstairs to eat something for breakfast.

“Hey,” I greet Logan as I see her with her head sticking in the fridge, searching for something to eat as I enter the kitchen.

She turns around, greeting me with a smile. “Hi,” Logan replies, turning her body around in search for some food. I guess she gets fed up with looking for something, so she grabs the jug of milk out of the refrigerator, walking the tiny distance to the cabinet where the bowls and plates are, taking out a bowl. “Do you want some cereal?” She asks as she takes out the half empty/ half full  box of Lucky Charms.

“Sure,” I nod my head in the affirmative, taking a seat at the island as Logan kindly gets me a bowl for my cereal. “Thanks,” I say as my best friend hands me the bowl that now contains the yummy cereal with marshmallows and some milk that has been poured into the bowl.

“What do you have planned today?” Logan asks, munching on her food, looking at me from the corner of her eyes since she is sitting next to me.

“Um, noth-“ I get cut off with my phone vibrating in the pocket of my shorts. I hold up a finger to Logan that indicates ‘one minute’ as I take the cell phone out of my pocket, seeing that someone is calling me- that someone being Landon. I know that it is Landon because I got his number a while back, hence the reason why his name pops up on my caller ID as he calls.

“Hello?” I greet into the phone, giving off this tone that suggest I don’t know who is calling.

“Hey, Mae,” Landon chirps into the line, causing me to smile giddily.

“Hi,” I giggle, unconsciously twirling a piece of my brown hair around my right index finger.

“What are you doing?” Landon goes on to try to make conversation.

“Eating, you?” I ask, placing the spoon down as I stop eating for a moment, so that Landon can’t hear me chewing on my food, because I know that I hate when I can hear people eating while I am talking to them on the phone.

“Nothing,” Landon pauses for a moment, creating a slightly awkward silence with neither of us knowing what to say. “So, uh, I was wondering if you were busy today?” He nervously asks, which confuses me because I can’t possibly understand why he would be nervous talking to me.
