17- I Should Have Known

“She’ll be back soon,” I tell Miles as he’s walking into my room with a slightly pervy grin on his face.

“So we have until she gets back,” He grins at me, bending over the bed to hover over me. “And then I’m taking you out tonight.”

“You can’t. Mae is staying in tonight,” I say. “We’re going to the movies, actually. You can come with us. Her friends are going too so you can bring your friends and it’ll be a group thing.”

“Okay. Well, what about tomorrow?”

“I don’t know. I’ll ask her,” I say, running my fingers through his hair and pulling him closer to me so that he’s sitting beside me on the bed instead of standing over me. “But I’m thinking that she’ll be with Landon. May I ask you where you’re taking me?”

“You may ask,” He nods. “But I’m not going to tell you. I know how much you love surprises.”

“You know me so well,” I respond flatly just before he presses his lips to mine.

“I do,” Miles laughs. “You at least have to let me pay for your movie tonight.”

“How would I explain that to Mae?” I ask him with raised eyebrows, trying to look as unaffected as possible by his hand that he has now placed on my thigh when I’m actually internally freaking out about it.

“I don’t know, just accidently forget your wallet or something,” He shrugs. “I’m sure she won’t pay much attention to me paying for your movie ticket anyway.”

“I’m not going to argue against free stuff,” I sigh. “But if she starts asking questions then you’re the one who’s going to answer them.”

He kisses me again and I lean forward, closer to him. “I’ll take care of it.”

“You make it sound like you’re going to kill somebody,” I laugh against his lips.

Miles pushes forward so that I fall back onto the bed on my back and he’s laying over top of me with his lips inches from mine. “I’ll do what I have to do,” He mutters and I laugh because I know that he’s just joking. My laugh is cut short by Miles pressing his lips to mine, gripping my thigh tighter in his hand.

“Logan!” I hear Mae chirp from the hallway, causing me to jump and push Miles off of me right before our kissing turned into a full out make out session. Miles stands up off of my bed and I shove him towards his room and mouth ‘go!’ at him as he stumbles back towards the door and disappears through it and into the bathroom.

“Yeah, you can come in,” I choke out with a loud cough as I stand up and fix my hair.

The door swings open and Mae walks through the door with a smile on her face. “So, for the movie tonight, I think we should leave early and go get pizza or something. That’s what Cadence says we should do. There’s going to be a lot of us since Cadence is bringing her boyfriend and I’m bringing my boyfriend.”

“Yeah, and I invited your brother and I told him that he should bring his friends too. You know, since we’re doing the whole group thing,” I explain but then, right after I say it, I realize what it sounds like and I want to cringe.

“Right,” Mae grins at me. “I’m sure there’s nobody in particular that you want to go with us.”

“I was just trying to be nice, Mae,” I sigh. “It had nothing to do with Jesse.”

“Okay then,” She sings. “Well, we’ll be leaving at eight so make sure that they know that. Do you know what you’re going to wear?”

“I wasn’t planning on putting much thought into my outfit. We’re just going to the movies so we’ll be in the dark for most of the time anyway,” I remind her with a small shrug. “So probably just jeans and a t-shirt or something.”
